The storm trooper transport shot was awesome.
The x-wings kicking vapor up as they went across the lake was awesome.
Of course the Falcon shot was awesome.

Looks promising. Not sure why they felt compelled to give significant screen time to that robot ball guy tho.
Pretty well sums it up for me. Not sure on the robot ball guy but got a bit goose pimply there.

Had just finished setting up my parent's new Smart TV when the trailer dropped, so I streamed that puppy on a 60" plasma. My dad couldn't have cared less and my mother went into the kitchen after watching about ten seconds of it.

Love the new little droid. A little more obvious CG than I was hoping for with the ships and I'm not crazy about the loopty-loo shaky shot of the Falcon at end (though not nearly as bad as the shots during the Geonosis battle in Clones). And I wonder who's doing the voice over? Sounds a lot like Cumberbatch (maybe he's voicing Darth Plagueis?). Also wish there was at least one shot of the big three. Still, next December can't get here fast enough.

Can't lie, I thought the same thing.

I thought the Falcon shot was pretty neat though.

FUCK YES. A perfect teaser - did exactly what it was meant to do...tease. The awesome Falcon shot goes without saying but I loved seeing the X-Wings back. They have always been my favorite spaceships and it sucked not having them in the prequels.

It would have been cool to see the original cast but that's okay - we've got plenty of time.

The trailer was decent but I agree that it was disappointing not seeing any of the original cast. I expected a glimpse of Luke or something at the end. Even a quick shot of R2 or C3PO would have been cool.

Ok, I'm really starting to love the Boyega popup now

Yeah, this is pretty much what a TEASER trailer used to always look like. We've certainly been real spoiled lately.

So your mom left when the black guy popped up?

I liked it. Like their focus on the new cast and not trying to satisfy fans with glimpses of the old. This movie isnt about them.

I think the voice in the trailer is of Max von Sydow, not Cumberbatch.

Am I the only one who thought the opening voice was Max Von Sydow, who we know is in the movie?

I think that's the, now, growing consensus.

Man, the internet really wants to see Cumberbatch everywhere, even inserting him in Star Wars trailers, stealing Max Von Sydow's thunder. Messed up.

I thought the teaser was great! It's good to see a real person in a stormtrooper suit again (when comparing to the CGI prequel clonetroopers)

Meh, nothing special. You're a moron if you drive out to see this in theaters, though. I've read that some idiots are going to drive for hours in some places to see it. /facepalm

There was shaky cam in the prequels -- I remember a C3PO POV in the first one, and an all-CGI one during the Geonosis battle. Both stood out because they broke the style of the rest of the film, but if the whole thing's going to be this way, I don't mind.

I think it rocked for a teaser. Teased well.

Also debunked: John Williams' newly composed music would be featured.

I'm pretty sure the one featured in this was the sail barge scene from Jedi.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fis

I can't believe there are people dumping on this teaser, it was awesome. It looks like everything the prequels aren't. Complete opposite.

I love the fact that the first shot is a black dude popping in to the frame in the middle of the desert, looking crazy distressed. It teases the situation perfectly: who the hell is this black dude, why is he in the desert, why is he wearing a stormtrooper uniform, and why is he so upset? Why am I seeing real acting in star wars for the first time in 34 years? Did anyone in the prequels have a visible drop of sweat on them or look genuinely distressed in any way?

Then the little soccerball droid. That shit looked genuinely funny. Like, they meant it to be funny and not on accident. See? Complete opposite of the prequels again.

X Wings. Falcon. How can anyone not like that?
