No no no. The ending should be Apollo Jr. LOSES the big heavyweight fight. As Rocky takes his battered body backstage, the Heavyweight Champ mocks Rocky and tells the audience "Do you want to see me kick this has-beens ass?" People start cheering "Rocky!" Rock doesn't know what to do. Apollo Jr. weakly tells him to go take care of business. Rocky races into the ring. Has a long drawn-out fight with the Champ and wins. Crowd goes wild. Apollo Jr. gives a thumbs up. Rocky holds the belt up and says something incomprehensible about not giving up. Fade to black. Next year: "Rocky VIII: Rocky Returns."

Because the majority here were satisfied with the ending of Rocky Balboa 9 years ago with a happy ending and closure.
I understand that point of view, but on the other hand, the character is now 9 years older now and age/illness are natural elements of life. But, I get that it's depressing to see that on screen to one of the most beloved sports movie heroes of the last 40 years.
At the end of Rocky Balboa, he was beginning a new relationship with Marie, who was a kid in the 1st movie, and was at least 25 years younger than him. I wonder if she will still be in the picture or if he will be alone.

I've only seen it once and it bored the living fuck out of me. I just remember hating it so much cuz I felt it had such a BS way of telling a generic story. Maybe it was original when it came out but it it came off bad to me. I'll have to see it again at some point.

Stallone was 30 when Rocky was released and the character was the same age. Marie was 13 in the film. 17< 25.

Apparently, patriotic trunks run in the family -- 'cause Michael B. Jordan was sporting Apollo Creed's famous shorts when he stepped in the ring to play A.C.'s grandson in the new "Rocky" flick ... and TMZ Sports has the 1st pics.
Jordan was going toe-to-toe with real-life pro boxer Tony Bellew -- who plays a boxer named "Pretty Ricky" in the upcoming movie.
The pics were taken on February 26th ... just a few days before hell broke loose on the set -- with Sylvester Stallone jumping in the ring to break up a REAL BRAWL that went down between Bellew and an actor playing one of his corner men.
Reps for the studio tell us the fight never got physical -- multiple witnesses tell us otherwise.
As for Apollo Creed himself ... he died in "Rocky IV."
Sucks for Carl Weathers.

Judging by the "HBO Boxing" shirt that one guy has on in the ring, I guess this means this will be another fight that "Appears on HBO". Yet, interestingly, Rocky Balboa (The movie) only appears on Showtime! I'm really surprised there was no company interference there.
