Right, but wasn't it Snyder who kept adding superheros to it? I thought Goyer's original story was BvS only. At any rate, I hope Civil War stomps on BvS only to wake up WB and have them change shit up for the better. WB has the property to make their stuff every bit as good as Marvels, but they don't know how to approach it. They want the victory without the work. Something Marvel has already put in almost a decade and 13 movies into.

After Goyers comments about She-Hulk and Martain Manhunter I'm surprised that hes hired on to write anything to do with superheroes. Hes trash as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't watched anything past the Spider-man reveal trailer and I'm not going to. Want to go in as spoiler-free as possible. Can't wait. The Winter Soldier has moved up to just below the first Avengers as my favorite Marvel movie and this one just might top them all.

No. If that were the case, then the only way to explain Suckerpunch would be that he had never actually watched a movie.

You're crediting him with a capacity for self-reflection that he clearly does not possess.

Re: Captain America: Civil War (2016) (D: The Russo Bros) - News, Rumors, Cast

He was on a podcast called Scriptnotes (ep 144) and had this to say :

I have a theory about She-Hulk. Which was created by a man, right? And at the time in particular I think 95% of comic book readers were men and certainly almost all of the comic book writers were men. So the Hulk was this classic male power fantasy. It’s like, most of the people reading comic books were these people like me who were just these little kids getting the shit kicked out of them every day… And so then they created She-Huk, right? Who was still smart… I think She-Hulk is the chick that you could fuck if you were Hulk, you know what I’m saying? … She-Hulk was the extension of the male power fantasy. So it’s like if I’m going to be this geek who becomes the Hulk then let’s create a giant green porn star that only the Hulk could fuck.
Then he asks the audience whos heard of the Martian Manhunter and after some applause asks how many of those people have been laid before.

“Well, he hasn’t been rebooted but he’s a mainstay in the Justice League. He can’t be fucking called the Martian Manhunter because that’s goofy. He can be called Manhunter… The whole deal with Martian Manhunter is he’s an alien living amongst us… So he comes down to Earth and decides, unlike Superman who already exists in the world now, that he’s just going to be a homicide detective… So instead of using super-powers and mind-reading and like, oh, I could figure out if the President’s lying or whatever, he just decides to disguise himself as a human homicide detective. Dare to dream!”
Dudes a scumbag who shits on the fans.

Re: Captain America: Civil War (2016) (D: The Russo Bros) - News, Rumors, Cast

Went to the fan screening tonight - was EPIC. All the best elements of Winter Soldier crossed with Avengers - trailers barely scratch the surface and both of the new MCU characters get a nice amount of screen time, don't feel tacked on and are much more than just glorified cameos. Marvel casting continues to be spot on as both Boseman and Holland are GREAT. RDJ gets to act his ass off in the last reel, doing more with just a look than he did in all of Iron Man 2. Awesome to see a trilogy where each film is better than the last. Also manages to make AoU seem more significant in hindsight as well. About 30 minutes that takes place at an airport is probably the most fun we've had in any MCU flick and should be a standout by summer's end. Going to make some serious bank - guaranteed. 5/5

While there have been three Cap films, I would never call this a trilogy, given how much of the story is spread across other movies.

It's a trilogy from the Bucky perspective. Captain America - the Bucky story.

We don't know where this exactly takes place in the narrative. It's early but only the guys that have seen it here can say where exactly it hits. Maybe before the Ross meeting. Maybe after.

What Snake said.

As far as I heard Winter Solder is viewed as a terrorist.

Apparently based off what BW says... Bucky may not be in control here either.

Not to derail the thread, but Hitfix's Drew McWeeny's theory is that it was Terrio who came up with the Martha resolution to the BvS fight. Because only someone not coming from the comic book world and who's admitted to not having read any comic books prior to coming on to this movie would think that Martha scene was clever.

On topic, a friend of mine saw this last night and he said it's good, not great. Then again he's very particular about superhero characters in movies being "comic-book accurate" and he didn't like Zemo's and Crossbones' "look". And he also called MOS and BvS Superman comic book accurate so we fundamentally disagree on that. haha

So in other words... he just wants he likes or has liked in imagery or plot compared to an adaptation that is possibly a quality thing?

Shit taste kind of guy?

Also.. comic book accurate Cavill Superman? Fuck him. The character, the suited one, hasn't even reached to a general definition of the character cuz of how shitty they write him.

Re: Captain America: Civil War (2016) (D: The Russo Bros) - News, Rumors, Cast

It says non spoilery, but I put it in spoilers just in case.

Captain America: Civil War reaction: 7 non-spoilery thoughts

Spoiler:
Captain America: Civil War won’t open in theaters in the U.S. until May 6, but after the Marvel film’s official world premiere on Tuesday, the internet erupted with reactions that seemed to range from favorable to euphoric. Here are seven non-spoilery observations about the movie, which pits Captain America against Iron Man, introduces Black Panther, and finally finds a reason for Scarlet Witch to exist.

1. Civil War does Batman v Superman better than Batman v Superman.

Superhero Ethical Debates: So hot right now! Where Batman v Superman used the destruction of Metropolis in Man of Steel to pit its two heroes against each other, Civil War sees the world reacting against the Avengers, partially because of the calamitous final battle in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But while Batman v Superman mostly kept its characters apart in the long lead-up to their showdown, Civil War takes time to let Captain America and Iron Man argue their respective cases. It really is an ethical debate.

2. Civil War does Spider-Man better than any movie since Spider-Man 2.

Tom Holland’s Spidey isn’t just here for a cameo. The high school-aged superhero has a large role in the film’s superhero duel. And to the extent that his part in the film is a backdoor pilot for next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Marvel Studios version of Spidey already feels more convincing than anything that happened in The Amazing Spider-Man. (Of course, Marisa Tomei is obviously too young to play Aunt May, but at least Civil War makes a joke about that.)

3. Civil War does Avengers 2 better than Avengers 2.

Civil War is the best Avengers movie. To qualify that statement: I hated the second Avengers and think the first Avengers only really gets going in its second half. But even if you admired Ultron, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see just how effectively this film plays around with Marvel’s superteam. The Vision feels like an essential member. Elizabeth Olsen still can’t settle on an accent for Scarlet Witch, but Civil War gives her a real, poignant arc. And whereas the two Avengers films drifted a bit off the idea that these characters might squabble, Civil War imagines that they have genuine differences of opinion.

4. Marvel really wants you to care about the Winter Soldier.

Remember Bucky? Cap’s lovable sidekick from World War II, transformed into a cyborg-assassin demon haunting the 20th century? Civil War turns entirely on a key plot turn around Sebastian Stan’s Soldier. I’m a hardcore Stan fan from his Gossip Girl days – Carter Baizen for life! – but your enjoyment of Winter Soldier may depend on to what extent you care about Winter Soldier more than most of the Avengers.

5. The film has a hell of a car chase.

And a hell of a stairway fight scene. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo aren’t as visually adventurous as some Marvel directors have been – Civil War is miles away from The First Avenger’s propaganda-poster jingo or the candy-colored Ultron. But with Winter Soldier, they bring a steady and ground-level grace to the fight scenes. Maybe it’s because there’s no Thor and no Hulk, but there’s a weight to the fights in Civil War. (Fun fact: The second-unit directors of Civil War are Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, the directors of John Wick.)

6. Black Panther makes an impressive debut.

There are some ambient fan theories that Marvel Studios is beginning to plan for its future: Not just a new phase, but a new generation of heroes. Following that theory, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is going to be the new Iron Man – the funnyman everyguy mascot. And if that’s true, then Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther might be the new Captain America, a noble national hero struggling to balance the needs of his country with his own personal ideals.

7. There are a lot of Avengers.

And the big fight scene between the two Avengers is a blast. I’m not sure it’s the best action scene in the Marvel series – my personal favorite remains the elevator fight scene from Winter Soldier – but it’s definitely the most action in any Marvel movie.

Please let there be a John Wick cameo. Just a depressed Keanu sitting on a chair in the background during one of the action scenes.

They've long been second-unit directors and stunt coordinators on a whole variety of films, including lots of big-time action movies. That's their day job .

Yeah. Chad Stahelski was also the stunt guy for Reeves in the Matrix films.

That guy has had an awesome resume.

Hrmm... this one spoils it a bit if you don't know how they were going w/ a certain character and what they can do.
