Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are following up The Wolf of Wall Street with an even more extravagant production. But perhaps you weren’t expecting it to be a commercial?
The Oscar winner and his new millennium muse teamed up with old Scorsese partner Robert De Niro and wild card Brad Pitt to make a commercial for a movie-themed casino and resort in Macau along with another resort in Manila.
The casino owners spared no expense in bringing aboard big names to lend Hollywood glamour to the gambling Xanadu: They reportedly spent a whopping $70 million for the Scorsese-directed production, according to the New York Post. The full commercial, entitled “The Audition” is expected to launch later this year.
In the clips, Scorsese has DiCaprio and De Niro vying for the same role, while we get a quick glimpse of Pitt on a giant outdoor screen. DiCaprio didn’t even have to shave his beard, though he tamed his long locks into a little man bun. (This is, after all, an ad for a high class establishment.)
The teasers contain several of Scorsese’s big screen trademarks, including fast cuts, gorgeous sweeping shots, two powerful men fighting for supremacy, and vintage music. This commercial was written by Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street and Boardwalk Empire screenwriter Terence Winter, and produced by Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment.
It’s far from Scorsese’s first big-name advertisement. In just the last few years, he’s shot star-filled spots for Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, AT&T and American Express (which also featured De Niro).
DiCaprio, meanwhile, has experience with commercial shoots in Asia, having made this gem in the late ’90s. He also was involved in pushing American cheese on kids back in the late ’80s.

Pretty cool, but I hope this leads to them all working together on a feature.

I was in Macau a couple of years ago. As much money as those places make, their interpretation of offensively large is probably the equivalent of these actors working on minimum wage. It's obscene how much money I saw in such a short amount of time. And that was just walking through a few casinos. Kind of cool seeing these 3 in something like this.
