I'm certain somewhere on that website they'll tell you where this event is being held, but after ten minutes of looking, I can't find that particular piece of information.

HA! Had the same problem. Eventually I clicked on the 'hotels' link - it's somewhere in CA (once I saw that I didn't bother getting any other location specifics) ....

It's in California City, which according to my Google Map skills is in the Mojave Desert. In other words, it's already a wasteland.

I think the whole Immortan Joe and his cult of followers and its size makes more sense if you buy into the theory of Max=Feral Boy from Road Warrior in this version.

I don't much care for that theory. Especially since the Feral Kid ended up leader of Papagallo's tribe after the Gyro Captain's tenure as leader was over. Also, amidst all the new flashbacks, we also saw flashes to the previous movies and even saw the Toecutter's eyes as he died in Mad Max.

I think what we're to believe is that an indeterminate amount of time has passed since Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Max lost a new family during the adventures we didn't witness. Perhaps that's why there's talk of Mad Max: The Wasteland being a prequel. We'll get context to Max' visions. Which would make it an interquel.

If that's the case, I hope everyone's wrong about Furiosa and Immortan Joe re-appearing. I do want Charlize Theron and Hugh Keays-Byrne back but I'd like to see them as two rival warlords that Max plays off one another. Basically, a Mad Max version of Yojimbo/A Fistful of Dollars. Hell, in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome they actually identify Max as "The Man With No Name".

Cuz he's "feral" in this one?

How doesn't Joe workout? Made sense based on the makeup of what Mad Max is.

Bringing back Keays-Byrne as something else would be fun. But damnnit I want Mel Gibson as a baddie so much. Dunno how I'd feel for Theron to be back as anything other than Furiosa. But... as long as Miller is on these films? I don't give a fuck. He's the magic in all this.

I don't want Furiosa back at all. I like how her story ended. If you bring her back, you'd have to fuck up everything she accomplished.

Besides, repurposing actors in different roles is pretty much a tradition at this point. And, yes, Mel Gibson as a villain would be fantastic.

Yeah. I don't want anymore w/ Furiosa. I rather let her world play as she was starting it.

It would be very cool to bring in Spence and Gibson back. Gibson needs to be a villain. The villains are so epically wild that he'd be amazing w/ a role like that. I'm not a Gibson fan but the dude can act.

That lame fucking theory should die. Even Max says he's max at the beginning of FR. That's it. Done. The first fucking line in FR is literally: "My name is Max…"

She'd come back as Queen Furiosa.

I like the idea, and the music fits, but the really artificial 80s filters makes it look like one of Robert Rodriguez's faux grindhouse flicks which always just rubbed me the wrong way.

If Furiosa were back in a sequel, it should be brief but substantial to helping Max.

Apparently Miller pulled John Seale out of retirement to shoot this. I think it's the only film Seale has ever shot digitally.

I really hate the theories that spun out of this film even though I loved the film, I wish people would shut up already. That said, the Feral boy theory is fucking less annoying than the notion of this just being some reboot of Tank Girl.

There's a pretty big race to the bottom between feminists and anti-feminists on this film to see who can be more annoying about this flick.

I wasn't of age to really grasp the conversations that occurred when Alien came out, but I bet when it did people were capable of talking about it without sounding like a freshman at vassar

Well that's a new one. How would that even work? I sure as hell didn't see anyone with goat legs (or whatever the hell animal legs they gave some people in Tank Girl) in Mad Max: Fury Road .

Theories like those are just some dumb fucks trying to make sense of it in a way they can understand like the dumb fucks they are or they're just to troll some lonely lonely fucks on the internet. I hadn't heard of either until someone first mentioned it here.

Wow, I hadn't heard of the Tank Girl bullshit but you're right that it's even dumber that feral boy being Max.

What a bunch of fucking mouth breathers.

No shit. I can't stand these fucking nerds having to force their lame-ass, obsessive continuity into everything, especially Mad Max. It really is just an extension of their pathetic OCD.

Spoiler:

I've been to Wasteland and bought tickets to this year. It's right outside of California City, Ca. H. Park is what it shows on the map.

Fucking amazing time to be had. So much alcohol. basically you set up camp, if you're themed and going full on serious in the post apoc spirit, you camp out closer to the main gate. Tribes are formed with similar looks to full immerse it.

You can also camp with normal looking stuff, but basically you need to look like you're in a post apoc world. while walking around. Which could be basic Army surplus store shit or you can go full on theme to Mad Max/Boarderlands/etc. Hell, there's even a Water world tribe.

Here's some pictures from last year.
http://www.laweekly.com/slideshow/wa...desert-5116157

I'm in one of them cutting up a whole pig I cooked out there and then gave away. You basically barter with food, alcohol. But more than anything, if you have an empty cup out there, it'll soon be filled with alcohol.

Music plays at night, free alcohol that is donated from one and all is flowing. Now, all these people look like they can and will kill you with their stare, but there couldn't be a group nicer than wastelanders. Holy shit, they're great people.

Oh yeah, here's the opening of the gates ceremony.
