I actually don't have a problem with Cavill either. He's not the greatest actor on the planet but I think the problem with his Clark/Superman has been more down to the films and what he's been given to work with thus far. I don't think that he's the definitive version of the character but he's pretty good. My hope is that his return in Justice League will reinvigorate the character and make him a bit more like the classic Superman rather than the emo alien who wants to find acceptance.

For me Cavill is like Downey Jr with Iron Man. I just can't see anyone else in that role.

Might not be a sexy name, but with the success of Kong: Skull Island, I wonder if Jordan Vogt-Roberts wouldn't be a good choice if Vaughn passes.

I am with you. I actually really like Cavill in the role and its the writing and storylines that are letting him down. Hes not a bad actor, and i thought he was good in The Man from Uncle.

And i am liking the idea of Vaughn directing. So far he has done some entertaining movies and he does action scenes very well indeed. However, i get the feeling this will be the same as the first Thor movie that Vaughn was attached to for a long time. It will get close and then he will bail at the last second to do something else (probably another Mark Millar comic book movie).

I am still looking forward to this as i enjoyed a lot of aspects of Man of Steel.

I wouldn't go that far. He's not bad in the role but I could see him as replaceable. Now if we were talking Reeve that's a definitive version in my opinion. I'm not even the biggest fan of those films but Reeve basically embodied everything that the character should be.

For the record, I don't hate the guy. I hate how he's been directed to portray my favorite character. I've always said his Man from UNCLE character would've made a great Clark.

They're catering to jaded fanboys who who insist that everything has to be turned on it's head. After decades of watering down these stories for a general audience, the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction. Do these people even watch the MCU movies? I can understand wanting to set your franchise apart, but it still has to have curb appeal.

There was nothing wrong with Routh as Supes. He at least showed some semblance of range. I cant recall Cavill doing anything other than frowning and looking uninterested.
