Quicksilver definitely doesn't know in Days of Future Past (rewatched it a couple days ago, and yeah he addresses it directly during Apocalypse). I don't see the issue, why would he have known back then? If his mom never mentioned anything other then the fact that she knew a guy who could control metal, there's no reason to suspect every acquaintance of his mom's could be his dad.

As much as I want to hate Olivia Munn for being a no-talent star fucker....she's just so damn good looking that I can't do it.

I thought the movie was entertaining but 100% forgettable. The beginning sequence in Egypt was really cool, but it was all down hill from there. Best part of the movie took place before the opening credits even played...

I'm sure this was addressed in the movie but I'd pretty much checked out by this point: why was Magneto in his big swirl of metal by Apocalypse's pyramid at the end? What was he doing?

I felt the Wolverine cameo was way too long. Give him one scene and get him out of there. Didn't need to see him running up and down the halls with his Google Glass on.

She was really, really good in The Newsroom. I didn't think much of her until then, but she changed my opinion.

I liked it because of how brutal it was, as well as the fact that they did a good job making him look like he did in the comics.

Although it's kind of dumb that in Days of Future Past they make it a point to show that it's Mystique in Stryker's form that fishes him out, which never made much sense then.

You don't say...

That's been on my "to-watch" list for a long time but I've never gotten around to it. I'll check it out eventually.

Yeah, I get what it was and appreciated the effort, but I'm just not so sure the look turned out so well, imo at least.

But you're right about the scenes being brutal -- I thought the whole movie was, and I liked it. I was surprised in some scenes just how far they took the gore/violence. It was great.

They don't expect this to beat Deadpool's box office take?

Just found out about the X-men spinoff TV show Legion. Sounds cool.

Deadpool outgrossed the #2 X-men movie in the US (Last Stand) by $130m and the #2 X-men movie worldwide (Days of Future Past) by $16m. So it's tough to say, the US absolutely not, abroad... maybe. The movie has grossed $186m overseas so far, and is standing at $265m cume.

The X-Men movies have never really been the gigantic blockbusters that some of the other comic book movies have been (Batman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, etc).

It's pretty clear that there's a specific group of characters that Singer cares about, and no one else will ever get any significant screen time in one of his films.
It sounds like the premise of X-Men: Apocalypse had a lot of potential but but didn't succeed in reaching it. I prefer adaptations of comic stories(Civil War, God Loves Man Kills/X-Men United) rather than panel-for-panel recreations (Sin City, Watchmen), but it seems like a missed opportunity on Singer's part to really exploit the drama of characters and storylines like Angel and his eventual transformation into Archangel.

It would have been nice to reintroduce the character, and have his nightmarish transformation occur somewhere down the line in a future film.

Psylocke's backstory is way too muddied to tackle, even for a multi-film franchise, but I was hoping her and Jubilee would have at least some decent character development.

You will see her differently after watching Newsroom. She was really, really good and surprised the hell out of me.

You take Olivia Munn out of the fan service outfit, and this appearance really isn't any better than Psylocke's appearance in the The Last Stand.
Not really. Psylocke was way more memorable in this than in Last Stand. If for no other reason than because of the fact that I didn't even remember her being in Last Stand so I doubt 90% of the people who watch it remembered her either.

[QUOTEfor all the excitement there was about Jubilee, this was basically just yet another background cameo for her.][/QUOTE]

Eh. Has there every been any hype for Jubilee? It always seemed like she was mainly put in these movies for fan service because of her role in the 90's cartoon.

Pretty much. She has always been a pain in the ass character that needs constant saving.

If she had been barely recognizable by appearance in this and not called by name that one time, would you remember her in it? She isn't even a real character, she's a cardboard cut-out villain.

Maybe not studio created hype, but fans were excited. I think because the fact that we heard about her casting ahead of time, people assumed it would be more than another glorified cameo. People also probably just thought that she'd fit in well with the 80's setting.
