Handsome, salt-and-pepper men with very short facial hair and the same haircut! If you had never seen one of them in anything (Esai) and only had seen the other guy in passing, people can see how I'd get confused, right?

But yeah, I have actually considered I have a light face blindness

The first picture wasn't Mark Ruffalo?

Looks wise, I think if you shave him and give more a more conservative haircut, then he really looks the part. But he's also 48, probably about ten years too old, and god only knows how old he'll be by the time the Fantastic Four has run its course considering how Disney is slow-walking these things.

Speaking of Anson Mount, his Captain Pike is a pretty spot-on Reed Richards.
Yeah, I mean even if Pedro is in a new Marvel film every two to three years he’ll still be close to sixty by the time there’s four movies out (maybe three Fantastic Four movies and an Avengers film). Compare that with Robert Downey Jr. for instance who was in his early fifties by the end of his run.

A lot of it is in Jim Carey's delivery. I took it to mean earnest and dorky which Elwes is in Liar, Liar and most of his roles. And yes if he were younger I'd be all about Cary Elwes as Richards.

I just hope when they bring in Dr. Doom they don't show his face. It should be like Vader (death scene aside). Imposing physicality and great commanding voice.

There's this rumor about Javier Bardem being cast as Galactus, but not Doom.

Personally, I'd rather have him play Dr. Doom than Galactus and hope if he is in cast, it's a bit of skulduggery and he's really playing Doom. I think his deep voice would be great for Victor Von Doom.

Mads Mikkelson for Dr. Doom.

FFS his normal face LOOKS like the iron Doom mask.

He's imposing with an air of arrogance.

Lets not over complicate this!

IDGAF if he played some other low-level character before.

Mads already played a character in the MCU. He was also a boring villain in Dial of Destiny.

I keep hearing people say that Pedro Pascal's is "the interet's daddy". I'm not sure exactly what that means but I thought that Al Gore created the internet.

I stopped reading new Marvel comics back in the early 90s when I finally tapped out, did Marvel ever end up showing Doom's face in the comics?

Yeah, lots of times. I think Kirby was the one who posited that it was just a small scar on his chin, easily fixed but Doom was such a psychopath that he was mad anyway. Then he put that molten hot mask on and further damaged his own face. Other times he like has no nose. I have no idea why there's such a disparity, there's probably in canon reasons for it.

Why am I not surprised. I remember hearing the story about the scar on his chin as well.

Mads always seems to speak in low tones. I imagine Doom having a more booming explosive voice especially when angry. I wonder what Tom Hardy could do with it given his memorable work as Bane and also Venom, doing something very different there, not to mention his many other roles.

Yeah, I think Kirby's original idea was that Doom was so vain that he wore the mask because of a small scar. Then Byrne was the one that added the wrinkle of the hot mask further scarring his face.

I know that some artists have drawn Doom with scarring visible around his eyes, but I can't recall if it was pre-Byrne or post-Byrne.

Yeah, but I don't know if they retconned it or otherwise backtracked on it...

Spoiler:

I am of the opinion that we should never see Doom's face, and that whatever disfigurements he hides under the mask should remain forever ambiguous.

When you take a character like that, with a long-running mystery, it really takes something away from the character.

I go for the non-showing also. Need the mystery.

Moss-Bachrach was already Micro in The Punisher, doubling up on roles is not a problem if the roles are so far removed character-wise.

I've never heard of her and Fishburne did a great job with what he was given, but I guess she will not be Norin Radd, but his lover? I've never heard of Shala-Bal, either, if I'm totally honest.

Yeah, from before he became the Surfer.

The surprising thing to me is that for once they're doing this before the comics. Yes she got the power cosmic in the alternate reality comic Universe X but that was a long time ago, it's not like Jane Foster becoming Thor in the comics first.

I'm a huge fan of the Silver Surfer comics and when I first heard they were going for a female Surfer, I admit I was a little disappointed. But with the news of this casting and the character she's playing (Shalla-Bal was core part of the story), I'm now actually pretty excited!
