re: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021, D: Watts) - S: Tom Holland

Yeah, I'm a bit confused by this. While I didn't really hate Garfield's two Spider-Man movies, I didn't love them or anything (and, for what it's worth, I actually wasn't that crazy about Tobey Maguire's except for the first one; I thought that was good; The second was interesting and had some good effects; Molina was very effective as Doc Ock; I never ever finished part three.) I did watch both Garfield movies and I thought they were okay. But for the life of me, I have no, no, no idea why they would bring back Jamie Foxx. It's not like he ruined the movie or anything, but I just didn't think he brought anything special. He was just "there." I think it's a bad call, especially if they are eventually going to build a Sinister Six and will include Mysterio, which Jake was awesome at. And the Vulture, which Keaton was pretty awesome at. Jamie Foxx as Electro? No. Maybe if the costume was better I'd be more "in tune", but I'll admit the costume in the comic book is pretty ridiculous (just the headgear alone), but if they can pull it off, cool. Just seems like a step back in my mind...Electro is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains so at least dress him in green/yellow....Like please...

Jamie Foxx as Electro was weird. Definitely not a character I’d think is really worth revisiting. It was more down to the script than anything, but the character wasn’t anything special. Basically just a downtrodden guy who turns evil for a silly reason.

I'm wondering if Foxx will play the same character exactly as he did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and we somehow get Spider-Verse started or if they just want him back and want a retry at the character with him still involved.

Electro was one of the worst villains in any Superhero movie. Makes sense. I didn't care for Far From Home so it won't matter to me. The well is running dry on Spidey.

Didn't he (Electro) get his powers from a tank full of radioactive electric eels, or something similarly stupid? You think Sony/Marvel, would not want to remind people that ASM2 exists. Be sort of like Warner Brothers bringing back Hector and poop cloud Parallax from GL to be in a future DCU project.

"Hey guys! Remember the embarrassment a.k.a ASM2 and all the internet rage fallout that forced us to go crawling/begging Disney-Marvel to help fix our mistakes?" Maybe for a future Hulk movie, Marvel can triumphantly bring back the giant mutated poodles.

I could see more if Jamie Foxx really stood out in the role or something. He really didn’t though. I mean he did well enough but it’s not like I thought: “wow, he’s perfect as Electro” or something.

JK Simmons on the other hand basically is perfect as J. Jonah Jameson.

I agree. It’s bizarre. But... he is an Oscar winning actor. Nothing bad about adding that to your franchise.

If that is the criteria add Nick Cage also.

I’d love to see Cage brought into MCU in some way (not as GR).

Nic Cage was in Spider-man Into the Spider-verse.

I think he’s a pretty big comic fan so I would imagine he’d jump at another opportunity. Of course, Cage seemingly jumps at ANY opportunity.

Off topic, but I’ve heard rumors that WB might be offering Nicolas Cage an opportunity to play the version of Superman he was set to play at one point (from Burton’s unmade Superman Lives film). Supposedly he might have some kind of role in the Flashpoint movie. Probably just something small, but it would be cool if true. I believe the CA actually tried getting getting him for their Crisis event but it didn’t pan out.

re: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021, D: Watts) - S: Tom Holland

In an Instagram post this afternoon (which has since been deleted), Jamie Foxx himself revealed that his upcoming iteration of Electro won’t be blue:

“Tell Spidey let’s run it back!” he wrote. “Super excited to part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment… can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent badass!!!”

But is it a new one, Jamie?

He took his last name from Luke Cage. His real last name is Coppola.

Things are making more sense. Wondering if we will get something involving the Spider-Verse.

I'm thinking they are not only working towards a Spider-Verse, but also gives Sony an out if they don't reach another deal with Marvel for future MCU movies or it gives a way for Marvel to incorporate some of the characters at Sony like Venom, Carnage and Morbius. With Foxx back as Electro, Keaton in Morbius, which also had that scene on the trailer where Tobey's Spidey was shown on the wall, it feels that having Doctor Strange it's just the final piece of the whole Marvel Multiverse.

I think DocStrange2 was supposed to come out before this film originally, so they are likely adding scenes to shift the introduction of the multiverse into this film. The MCU spidey films have been enjoyable, but the MCU elements have been the least enjoyable for me. We get it, it's in the MCU, but let Spider-man breath a bit more.

Wonder if they're going to take anything from Web-Warriors. First story arc dealt with Multiverse Electros.
