The first part of this movie was ok (beyond some really bad CG)... but then it got so bad it felt like a parody. There is one sequence that is so hilariously absurd... I couldn't stop laughing. Then the sequence right after that one dials up the absurdity even more...seemingly defying physics. I find it hard to believe that the actors involved weren't embarrassed by those scenes when they saw the final product.

^Sounds like exactly what I expect based on the trailers. They were very evident that this was over-the-top Vaughn silliness.

Hmm, I'm torn. Our family all went to see The Lost City on spring break in the theater and we loved it. This seems similar. But wow, those reviews.

Bummer that it's a bomb. Looked fun and there's so much talent involved. It also got a Prime weekend to release -- no real competition in the theater, no football, been a while since a blockbuster came out. Seems like the perfect weekend to put out a bubblegum action flick.

That’s a shame. I was looking forward to this. Oh well, I’ll catch it streaming sometime.

Now I want to see it just to see how bad it is, but I'll wait for streaming.

L.A. film critic Christy Lemire dodged a bullet. Her theater lost power 20 mins into the movie.

I’ll still check it out. I usually like Matthew Vaughn movies. I seem to remember his previous movies getting trashed, but I still enjoyed their creativity.

As for the movie, it's loud, ridiculous, and obnoxious, but I would lying if I said that there weren't parts where I was entertained. At the very least, it's more tonally consistent than the King's Man was.

Was this written for Melissa McCarthy to star?

Thankfully we have three more months before the Fall Guy comes out.

The trailer looks pretty generic, but they can't pitch it as a revival of the TV show because even those of us who watched it don't really remember much about it other than the theme song. I only mentioned it as a joke of already being really tired of the "Shot through the heart" trailer and still having three more months left to watch it.

I have zero interest in Fall Guy. But I am full speed ahead on Dune 2: Dune Duner.

I caught a Dolby matinee at AMC. The finally updated the Dolby introduction.
Anyway, this was was so hilariously over the top. There is indeed some wacky CGI and some fake looking green screen shots. But, I actually found some of it entertaining. But, I totally understand those who thought this was really bad.
And there is a crazy amount of twists. I mean one right after the other. You'll be like C'Mon already!
2 scenes were so eye rolling absurd. One involves a shootout and the other involves "skating" What I found funny was the Cavill and Dua Lipa dance scene actually played "You're the 1st. the last, my everything" by Barry White instead of "Let's Dance", which was in the trailer. It did not go with that scene at all. But, Dua Lipa did not damn good.
It gets between a C and C+ from me. Bryce Dallas Howard, even though this is not her best work, is still very likeable in this.
By the way, there is a mid-credits scene:

I may go see this next weekend. I'm a bit confounded that this cost $200 million. It's also confusing that if this was truly made to be streaming content for Apple, they didn't just go ahead and put it on their service. I understand why they would release material like Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon theatrically, as they want awards consideration, but it's pretty obvious from the trailers this isn't awards bait.

It cost $200mil for Apple to buy the rights. It didn’t not cost $200mil to produce. Clearly they overpaid. They partner with a major studio to distribute theatrically and that studio pays for all that cost and the advertising.

In this 2021 story, it sounds like the $200M figure came from the complete acquisition rights package. Not the actual film production costs.

edit: and dex14 also clarified the confusion.
This clearly was not a $200M production considering how cheap some of it looked.
and not that Apple really cares, but this will likely be a box office along with critical failure. Estimated to make $18M week 1.

$18m weekend 1. Not that the full week will be substantially higher.

I had a lot of fun with this one (Loved how much Rockwell was having a blast with this) until
and this indeed took me out of it but I think my enjoyment of the rest of the movie superseded having these two scenes ruin it for me.

Forgot Mathew Vaughn did Layer Cake. Always thought that was a Guy Ritchie film. I'll eventually watch this one when it hits Apple +.
