The Batman film I'd love to see that would solve a lot of these issues is a Legends of the Dark Knight anthology film. Let directors/writers put their spin on the character, be it as a weird pulp creature in the 1930s, a theatrical masked adventurer, an avenger in the post-apocalypse, a modern Zorro, etc.

^ Yeah, I had hoped that Morrison's Arkham Asylum would be a DCEU Batfleck movie when such at thing seemed possible.

I'd love to see a 1940s Bob Kane/Bill Finger styled Batman episode, black and white (or sepia tinted) shot like German Expressionism or maybe full on Citizen Kane homage.
Now that I think about it, that bullshit Mark Millar claim about how he "found" Orson Welles's treatment for a 1942 Batman movie? Shoot THAT!

If we're posting what we'd like to see, how about an actual Bat-verse instead of just Batman vs. villain? You know, a serious take on Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing... something, anything instead of just more of the same? 75 years of a rich universe and the best we get are the same recycled concepts.

Watched this last night and reminded me of 1930s-40s The Shadow.
I'd like to see something that involved Batman, The Spectre and Deadman.

Batman is "the same character in every reboot"? There are fundamental differences among the portrayals by Pattinson, Affleck, Bale, and Keaton.
Keaton's Batman was fully formed with zero character growth or narrative arc. He was just your basic Batman and Bruce Wayne, well performed but with paper-thin characterization. Mostly in the background, as the Burton movies served the villains first and foremost. Max Schreck got more screentime than Batman in Batman Returns.
Bale's focus was more on the development of Bruce Wayne in a relatively grounded world consumed by corruption by people in power.
Affleck was a late-stage Batman who was pushed to the brink of all-consuming fascism. Superman pulled him back into the light. There wasn't much difference between Batman and Bruce Wayne.
Pattinson is a Batman where the Bruce Wayne persona was completely obliterated by his drive (or compulsive need) to be Batman, to make any sense of his world. Only by the end of the movie did he realize he needed to be Bruce Wayne as well. I previously called the movie a Bruce Wayne origin story, and I stand by it.
Love the movie or hate it, but calling it "the same character every single time he's rebooted" pretty much means you're not really paying attention, or even care all that much.

Corridor Crew are super entertaining. The Batman trailer is fantastic. Now they need to flip the tables and put Pattinson into a classic Batman trailer.

I tried watching The Batman again last night. My parents both lasted almost an hour before they left, then fifteen minutes later my brother said he had enough and left too. My cat stayed for around twenty more minutes before leaving the room to go clean himself. I finally gave up at the hour and forty-five minute mark. This film just isn't for me I guess. I miss the Burton/Shumacher Batverse.

I watched this a few nights ago and loved it for the most part. Pattinson has replaced Affleck as my favorite Batman.
My only gripes would be:
It was way longer than it needed to be.
Didn't care for the Serkis casting as Alfred.
Oh, and the car chase seen was a travesty, Batman should have led Penguin outside of the city to cause all of that destruction!

Finally got around to seeing this.
My previous thought going into this is that it was just another non-DCU standalone Batman related movie that really wasn't needed.
But by one hour in, I was thinking, damn this has potential to be the best Batman yet.
At the two hour mark, I was thinking, ok, this actually should be ending but there's really an hour left?!?!?
Then the last hour....

I had something I was going to say, but rexinnih conveniently said it all for me. I look forward to a sequel, if there is one, but I'd like it to be a bit shorter. Or at least feel shorter.

Watching this last night. Liked where it was trying to go, the final product could easily have shaved 40 minutes off and lost nothing.

Just saw this again. One sitting. I liked it much more this time around. First time wasn’t bad, but I caught things I didn’t on first viewing. This is such a slow-burn, brooding, little EMO, but fantastic detective story that happens to have The Batman.
It goes beyond having the famous character. It is a great study in noir, reminiscent of Hollywood in the past. Just a very well made suspense, mystery type crime movie.
The characters were great and played with ease by the likes of Turturo, Farrell, Kravitz, Wright, love seeing Andy Serkis on camera and of course Pattinson, who certainly made this particular character, his own.
Really well done on all aspects and I simply can’t get enough of the very final scene, when he revs up and the music swells ever so shortly.

I really hope they can build on this world in the sequels. I don't want them to turn into paint by the numbers action vehicles or abandon the interesting aesthetic of Gotham. That's where Nolan's trilogy really falls short for me (among many reasons) ...no real Gotham City as a "character". Keep the noir feel and keep him a cerebral, yet dangerous crime fighter.

Danny DeVito says his penguin was better than Colin Farrell’s in ‘The Batman’
Danny DeVito is not one for sugarcoating things.
The beloved 77-year-old actor was asked by his daughter, Lucy DeVito, about Colin Farrell’s performance as the villainous Penguin in “The Batman.”
So when the Golden Globe winner was asked a question while hooked up to a lie detector machine for a Vanity Fair segment, he wasted no time sharing his two cents.
“Oh, Colin? I love Colin. He’s a terrific guy. My Penguin was better,” DeVito said.
“Was that the truth?” he then asked the text’s administrator, who confirmed he was not lying.
“It certainly was. In my opinion. It’s my opinion. Good man though, Colin’s a good guy,” he added.
Danny DeVito played the Penguin in Tim Burton’s 1992 version of the superhero’s story “Batman Returns.”
Farrell later took on the same role in this year’s “The Batman” opposite Robert Pattinson’s lead role.
Colin Farrell appears to look unrecognizable as the Penguin in the newly released box-office hit. Farrell’s performance received rave reviews, which were backed up by the Warner Bros. announcement of a Penguin-centered spin-off series coming to HBO Max.
It’s not the first time DeVito shared his honest thoughts on Farrell’s performance in the film.
“I thought Colin did a great job,” DeVito told The Wrap back in April. “Certainly a different milieu. I think it was a more edgy, serious, gangster-y Batman. Of course, there’s three Italians who are bad guys in it, the Falcones.”
“But I feel like, in terms of the performances, I thought Colin – who is a good buddy of mine – I think he did a great job in that. You take your hat off to anybody who sits in the makeup chair that long. I did it with the Penguin and loved it.”
Farrell previously revealed that he spent four hours in the makeup chair every day to transform into the deformed creepy character.

I really love this fucking movie. Watching the last 30 minutes for like the 5th or 7th time and it’s just so well done.
One question, sure it was answered, but what was that green injection he gave himself at the end that got him boiling? Was that like some Bane type of stuff?
