What Happens Later (2023, D: Ryan) -- S: Meg Ryan, David Duchovny

Two ex lovers, Bill (David Duchovny) and Willa (Meg Ryan) get snowed in at a regional airport overnight. Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.

Comes out October 13th.

Meg Ryan co-wrote and directed this movie. It's apparently her 1st acting job in 8 years.

I know these kind of movies don't appeal to most here, but it looks kind of charming.

Nice to see Meg back in the film, she should make another film with Tom Hanks they were perfect together in Sleepless In Seattle and Joe v.s. The Volcano.

^ Doing a little research on Meg, she apparently directed another movie a few years ago called Ithaca where Hanks co-starred with her. Looks more like he was doing a favor for her but he was in it.

I saw that

Maybe Against the Ropes was her last major movie in 2004 and the last time she was a smokeshow.

Ugh, that trailer wasn't good.
When was the last time David Duchovny appeared to enjoy one of his acting gigs? Season 6 of X-Files? Zoolander? He treats every role like it's court-mandated Community Service.
And Meg, don't set your movie in an airport and make it empty. Everyone's been to airports and they're never, ever empty.

Not gonna watch the trailer. But I will see this. I love Meg Ryan and enjoyed Duchovny in Californication. Lol

Okay, I watched half the trailer. She has had some work done like Courtney Cox, does not look good or natural. Ugh.

I've been in plenty of empty airports? That's a weird thing to focus on.

But yeah Duchovny looks like a zombie.

Looks cute enough. Rom Coms aren’t really my thing but my wife mentioned wanting to see this since Meg Ryan hasn’t been around in awhile.

The trailer seemed fine but the voice of God PA announcer seems like an odd plot device.

She’s obviously had work done but I was actually thinking she looked pretty good now. She was looking pretty rough the handful of times I’ve seen her over the last 10 years or so. She looks like she’s chilled out with the face lifts and collagen injections.

I just can't... Meg was so damn beautiful and someone on her team should've stop her from whatever the hell she was injecting into her face. She should be able to sue that doctor, cuz the work is beyond terrible.

Dennis Quaid was the best thing that ever happened to her until she cheated on him with Russell Crowe. It went downhill from there.

True that probably messed her up.

Outside of the curiosity factor to see Meg Ryan again this movie is probably going to be forgotten.

I quite enjoyed him in Californication. During the brief X-Files revival on Fox, I was sort of hoping that Hank Moody and Charlie Runkle would show up to shadow Mulder and Scully to research a project involving the FBI.

Duchovny does seem to have a male equivalent of "resting bitch face," though, because he always looks like he just stepped in dog shit.

I'm convinced the only way he was lured back to TV was being offered a role where he could be crotchety and pissed off all the time, never emote, and do a love scene with a hot young naked girl every week.

This is, like, a dream job for every heterosexual man on the planet.

Duchovny was a sex addict in real life around that time. I’m sure starring in a show with hot, young naked chicks was a huge plus to agreeing to doing the show.

Meg looks better than she has in years. Maybe she listened to her critics or wasn't getting movie offers because she overdid it with the plastic surgery and injections, but everything has settled and she looks normal again IMO. Renée Zellweger also stopped whatever it was she was doing about 8 years ago and she too looks more like her original self.

I love Meg; I've said for years that the forgettable Larry Crowne might have worked if Tom had cast Meg instead of Julia Roberts, but this looks terrible.

He was also on that network tv show based on the Manson murders. I think he played a detective or news reporter - I forget. They only made 1-2 seasons and canceled it because it was really expensive and the ratings weren't great.

Californication was so great until they introduced his Jewish son. JFC, it was one of the worst jump the shark moments of all time, IMO.

I don't remember that detective series at all.
Aquarius - ran 2 season on NBC , right after Californication mercifully ended, 2015-2016.

harmless Lifetime fare.

Meg Ryan looks much better now than she did a couple of years ago. Obviously had work done but she toned it back somewhat.

It's a good show but the main issue it had was that it wasn't written with an ending in mind. I assume they had it planned out for 3-5 seasons, but that was beyond unrealistic, so it ends without resolution after S2.

Ryan and Duchovny will be allowed to promote this movie. It’s an Indie movie and they signed an interim deal with SAG AFTRA.
