RIP: Carl Weathers - Dead at 76
Carl Weathers, who starred as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and appeared in Predator, The Mandalorian, Happy Gilmore, Action Jackson and dozens of other films and TV shows, died Tuesday, his family announced. He was 76.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” his family said in a statement. “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.”

Wow, what a bummer. I, and I assume everyone else, loved him. He'll be missed in The Mandalorian going forward.

He's in a national ad campaign right now with Gronk for Fan Duel that will presumably have a big spot during the super bowl. It's going to be bittersweet to see him in that to say the least.

Awww, what a bummer to hear. He's always looked good for his age. I wonder if it was sudden.

I just saw a screening of Predator less than a week ago. I think he was highly underrated as an actor and he seemed to be able to do action, drama, and comedy near-equally well. Definitely recommend Action Jackson if you want to see him in a headlining role.

I can never say I've seen Action Jackson but have always want to. What else to say that won't already be said as I have loved the Rocky Movies, Predator, and Happy Gilmore. It was nice to see him have a good part in the Mandalorian that will now be looked at as the Swan Song of his career. RIP

RIP Carl Weathers. We lost an extremely talented man today and at least from what I have seen of him the past couple of years on-line via interviews and EPK stuff regarding the projects he was working on, he seemed like a nice person.

Damn. Sad news.
He was always fun to watch. I can’t think of a single performance of his that wasn’t entertaining.
