Did Anyone Ask for a Remake of "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead"?
I've always wondered how a remake would work if it was made today so here we are.

Rated R- teen drug use, language, and some sexual references
Release Date- April 12th

The new film ” follows 17-year-old girl Tanya (Jones), who plans to vacation in Europe with her friends before heading to college in the fall. But her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to go to a wellness retreat in Thailand, so Tanya is forced to stay home with her siblings. When — as the title suggests — their elderly babysitter (Squibb) unexpectedly dies, Tayna gets a job working for an ambitious woman named Rose (Ritchie). As she juggles work, family and a complicated romance, Tanya navigates adulthood at the cost of her last summer of freedom.”

"Oh hell naw..."
I just re-watched the original last week. It's so early '90s it hurts, but still a fun watch. I thought the remake idea was as dead as the babysitter, but clearly not.
YouTuber Jordan the Lion posted an interview with Keith Coogan and Joanna Cassidy ("I'm right on top of that, Rose!") a few years back where they brought up the remake. They mentioned the "diverse cast" and how they'd been approached by the producers about possibly taking part.
BTW, it appears they've reused the exact house from the original (which was green back then, but now white).

I loved the original, but the remake doesn't look great. One of my coworkers is a fan and says the dishes are done all the time.

I don't know if just race swapping the cast is enough to make this any different. Kudos for it being rated R. The original was one of my favorite kids movie of the 90s and I still watch it on dvd pretty regularly.

This is one of those movies that played almost on a loop on HBO back in the 90s. I spent many a summer day watching it. And yet, I never really liked it all that much. The first half of the movie was a lot of fun and the siblings at home was entertaining but as soon as it changes its focus to her job in the fashion industry it losses all its fun.

Even though it’s been at least 25 years since I’ve seen it, I still use “The dishes are done, man!” And “The Butt-crack of dawn” on occasion.

No interest. And I probably use "I'm right on top of that, Rose!" weekly in conversation.

?. Seemed pretty straightforward here but…
I had my first date (a double date actually) to the original film in the theater when i was 12 in 1991.
I planned on checking out the remake with my daughter when it’s available though that was before I read it was R rated so probably will skip it as she’s only 9. May watch the original with her instead though.

Yeah the only thing it’s got going for it is nostalgia from people who went out on a first date to see it or caught one of the twelve billion airings on HBO.

Nesbit really wants everyone to know he went on a date in 1991, eh?
Was it with Niki Taylor?

I also want people to know I had sex close to ten years ago lol.
TBF one of the times i brought it up was because someone was totally innocently implying things.
