Does anyone know, or know how to learn, if phrases like "Best Supporting Actor" or "Best Picture" are copyrighted? I see this on the Academy website:
For example, if I want to write a book about a favorite side character in a movie and call it "Best Supporting Actor," could I do that?
“OSCAR®,” “OSCARS®,” “ACADEMY AWARD®,” “ACADEMY AWARDS®,” “OSCAR NIGHT®,” “A.M.P.A.S. ®” and the “Oscar” design mark are trademarks and service marks of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and may not be used except in accordance with these regulations or under a special written license from the Academy.

Yeah, I think a term like "Best Picture" would be too generic to trademark.
