Re: The Official "I'm finally embarrassed to be a KISS fan" thread.

The only embarrassment with the football team is proclaiming they're in Los Angeles. Unfortunately it's KISS's biggest blunder since Music From The Elder.

I am sick and tired of having my good city of Anaheim and County Of Orange associated with that pile of crap up north. First it's that bastard Moreno and that joke of a name he inflicted on the Angels, and now we have KISS making the same stupid mistake. Get a freaking map! WE ARE NOT FUCKING LA!

Better names for this team:

Anaheim Demons
Anaheim Destroyers
Anaheim Killers
Anaheim Creatures
Anaheim Stars
Anaheim Strutters

In the end, this team will fail, as did the Anaheim Piranhas and the L.A. Avengers. Well, the Avengers might have survived if the league hadn't nearly folded. But they'll learn, once they see the empty arena without a fan base as they insult the locals and the LA base won't travel.

I have a feeling this will fail...and Gene will write it off as a loss for tax purposes and lose nothing.

The lost a HUGE marketing opportunity by not calling them the LA Elders

Season tickets also come with a free 8-track of Peter Criss's 78 solo album! :groin:

Paul's and Ace's were great rock albums.

Gene's was bizarre.

Peter's... just "not my thing", and I'll leave it at that.

LOL

I will admit the helmets look kind of cool with the KISS logo.

When is Phil Anselmo or Dave Mustaine going to buy a arena team?

It's Peter Criss. Of course he isn't thrilled. You wouldn't be either if you read his contract.

That is SO not Peter Criss. That is Ace Frehley's black stunt double from "Attack of the Phantoms". DUHR.

John Varvatos really knows how to throw a party for 200 of his closest friends. KISS performed and modeled some of his designs and also played in them on stage. I really hope that the band releases this show, because it's "Dressed To Kill" all over again and I love it. Tommy's suit is really BADASS!

Why? He took a space that was going to be empty, had strong ties to RnR and (at least used to) had live bands play while selling clothes. Did you ever go to CB's? Then you know the answer.

I have huge emotional ties to the place. I practically lived at CB's from the 80's to the day it closed. But this is much bigger than CBGB, it's about the gentrification of The Bowery.
He could have done something different instead of selling $1600 used leather jackets and $800 pants right off a street called Joey Ramone Place.

^^ That's some Amazon special thing (and yes that's a crazy price). The normal BD is about $25 or less.

Re: The Official "I'm finally embarrassed to be a KISS fan" thread.

I'm kind of a late to the party KISS fan. I always hated them because I hate Gene Simmons and to a lesser extent the rest of the band. But I recently picked up Creatures of the Night on vinyl after listening to it on youtube a bunch of times. The reason I'm posting is because I have a question, how many covers did this album have?

The cover of the lp I bought is this one:

But the cover of the album I was listening to on youtube was this one:

Then when I searched Google I also came across these:

I count a total of what seems to be 6 or 7 different members pictured on various covers. wikipedia doesn't offer much help. Can anyone confirm if any of these besides Gene/Paul/Ace/Eric are real?

Kiss has been known to be revisionist with their history, especially if there was bad blood with a departing member. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of them are real.

This is the original one, but because there was so much bad blood with Vinnie Vincent the reissues had one with Bruce Kulick on the cover even though he never played a note (and wasn't even a member of the band yet) on Creatures. Now I've never seen the Creatures cover with Eric Singer in make-up on it -- I wonder if that's just photoshop/fan art?

Creatures of the Night was the last great album they did before they took the make-up off.

The makeup cover with Ace and the non-makeup cover are the only legit ones, the other two are completely fan made.

Re: The Official "I'm finally embarrassed to be a KISS fan" thread.

Ace was still officially in the band when this came out; he's in the video for "We Love it Loud," but I think Vinnie Vincent recorded most of guitar tracks. I don't think Ace played on it all.

Peter Criss was completely out of the band by the time Creatures came out.
