My first concert I ever went to when I was lin 4th grade. My dad took me to see The Pat Matheny Group. Awesome Show, and I remember Lyle Mays kicking major A on the keyboards. Jesus, this was 1987!!!!! 18 freakin' years ago. Man time flies.
The people I have seen the most of: 1) Boyz II Men- 4 times. The best R@B group ever. Every time they sound great, despite what that *** Gene Simmons on American Idol thinks.

2) Oasis- 3 times. I saw them on at the KROQ Weenie Roast(when it actually use to be good). Then I saw them on the "Be Here Now"
and "Standing on the Shoulder" tours(I don't think they toured "Heathen Chemistry" in the states)

3) U2- coming this April, will mark my second time seeing the best band in the world.

Was Extreme on that bill also? I went to a concert with those 3 back in 1991. Of course it's ironic now that the bill had 2 out of 3 VH lead singers!

I saw Grandpa Jones at the Fayette County Fair when I four years old. I was to shy to go up and meet him afterwards.

First rock concert was KISS and W.A.S.P. on the Animalize tour. Great show.

And the DLR/Cinderella show was in 86. I saw that one too, and it was outstanding.

My first concert was Ratt and Poison. Didn't plan on going, but I was able to get a free ticket.

My first was "Mama's Boys" it was a free outdoors concert at a local college near me (Schoolcraft), the first one i paid for was "Heart" with "Bon Jovi" opening, back in "85". Excellent show it was Heart's big comeback and Bon Jovi's 7800 degrees farenheit album tour, still my favorite Bon Jovi album.

KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles, 1999.

Metallica
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pennywise
Sugar Ray
Limp Bizkit
Freestylers
Live
Lit
Living End
Blink 182
Eve 6
Kid Rock
Orgy
Smash Mouth
10 or 12 other bands

Pennywise ripped it up pretty good, and Metallica was awesome. This was, of course, before the abomination that is St. Anger, and I was still pretty infatuated with them.

the Cavedogs, Mojo Nixon and the Dead Milkmen, in like 89 or 90, it was for Nixon's "Otis" and DM's Metaphysical Graffiti, a different but underrated album.

First concert was a local band. I was pretty young when I first started to going to shows. I had a lot of older friends who would take me the "all ages" shows which were extremely rare, even for local bands. I used to get so pissed because at this time (early 80's) all the clubs were strictly 21 & over. I missed so many concerts because of this BS.

I think my first "arena" show was Motley Crue around 1984 or 1985. I think it was for Theatre Of Pain record.

That 21-and-over thing is so random.
I remember wanting to see Manitoba's Wild Kingdom, 21-and-up. But later on, at the same venue, the Genitorturers and GWAR were all ages...?!?

I believe it's related to alcohol, but still, why can't they card at the gate and do the bracelet/hand stamp thing. Somehow it's worse for a 12 year old to be exposed to a venue where people drink, than to the Genitorturers and GWAR?

With my dad: Arlo Guthrie

First real concert was Midnight Oil. I don't remember the year but it must have been around 1989 (it was the Blue Sky Mining tour with Hunters & Collectors).

Oh, and in regards to the post above, I saw the Genitorturers when I was 18 or so and I'm still scarred! (luckily, not literally!).

That's weird too because, as I posted before, Pete Seeger was the first concert I ever attended.

Kind of funny! The music forum here seems to have an average age of 25 or so, while the video game forum's average age is like 32! Shouldn't that be switched?!?!

My first concert was Iron Maiden on tour for "Seventh Son" album (I think it was called "Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour"). Frehley's Comet was supposed to open, but if I remember correctly, Frehley was ill in some capacity so they cancelled. They were replaced by some no name band (Big Bang I think....) who almost literally got booed off the stage.

I thought it was like maybe 88 or 89...but I guess that's not right assuming woofman's right about the Somewhere on Tour being 87-88. All I know is that it was before I went to military school, and that was around 89 that I went.

Virtually no memory of the opening band at all (still not sure of their name) but was wowed by Maiden's performance.

On another note, my first "non rock" concert would be my senior year of military school (1991) when my geometry teacher took me to see Peter Paul and Mary "in the round." Was a VERY cool performance.

Mine was Def Leppard with Tesla opening. 87 or 88, (can't remember which) on the Hysteria tour.
Saw them in Austin, TX at the Frank Erwin Center.

The group Boston (Remember them, anyone?? They were the headliners.) w/The Outlaws (I would have enjoyed "Green Grass and High Tides" in its live form a lot more if we weren't bombarded by rain on that weird afternoon. I got really sick from second-hand pot smoke, too!), Poco, and Todd Rudgren & Utopia @ Giants Stadium in NJ way back in June, 1979.
