Spoon: Gimme Fiction - May 10th

I was shocked to find this leaked. Grabbed it and gave it a quick run through...Very cool stuff. Definitely picking this up on its retail date to add to the collection of other CDs I own of theirs.

Kill The Moonlight is an EXCELLENT album. If you've never heard these guys, you are definitely missing out on some great stuff. This and Girls Can Tell are 2 CDs that get heavy use in the car.

Yep. I hear the new lp is really good.

I liked (but didn't love) KtM

I've been listening to this for about a week now, and I agree, it is fantastic. I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out.

As for Kill The Moonlight, it's one of my favorite albums...of ALL TIME!

I don't like Kill the Moonlight at all, but the 2 before that were/are great.

I loved Girls can tell, but Kill the moonlight is my favorite spoon record...It took quite a while to get into it, though. Looking forward to Gimme Fiction.

For anyone interested, Amazon has one of the tracks "I turn my camera on" as a free download. Pretty good song.

On my initial listen, I didn't like it quite as much as Girls Can Tell or Kill The Moonlight. But I found those albums immediately accessible. I wouldn't be surprised if something "clicks" for me on the 3rd or 4th listen. I like the second half more than the first.

It's not quite as strong as A Series of Sneaks, but Gimme Fiction is a HUGE return to form after the awful Kill the Moonlight.

Personally, I think I enjoy KtM a little more than this album, but I think this is better than most of the albums out there.

Its funny because I think KTM is my fave, I love every song on that album, it just flows along so well. "Thats The Way We Get By" always gets me going.

Gimme Fiction has grown on me immensely since I originally first posted about it. It took me a little while to get into it but I highly recommend it and its certainly a better album than 90% of the mainstream crapola that is out there nowadays. Well worth picking up. A couple of my faves are "Sister Jack", "I Summon You" and "I Turn My Camera On".

This album has helped me get over the pure dissapointment of the new Weezer, may they R.I.P.

This is a very good album. Sister Jack is probably my favorite song on it right now.

I agree with Mike, Kill the Moonlight was pretty whack, but Girls Can Tell is great and what I've heard of the new album, it sounds really good as well.

Bump 'cause I just got this and am really enjoying it, wonderfully creative fuzzy pop full of all kinds of fun influences. My first exposure to the band, heard "Sister Jack" and dug it. Will have to check out some of their other discs, although it sounds like opinions about those here are all over the map.

"Gimme Fiction" was the first album I heard from these guys and I love it. Great recording. Now that I've heard most of their catalogue I'd say they have very few bum songs. Might be my favorite find of the past year.

While opinions on Kill The Moonlight vary, most fans definitely like Girls Can Tell. Over time, Girls has become my favorite Spoon album, but KTM is still decent.

Just bought this for my uncle and was thinking about how much I loved this lp.

If anyone is looking for a blind buy I would highly recommend picking up this record.
