So Zooropa is NOT remastered? Why include it? I hope it gets its own remaster at some point.

None of this makes sense really. Why would the Standard one disc not be remastered either?

I'll bet the standard disc is remastered.

I can go to the used CD store right now and get a non-remastered Achtung Baby for a buck.

Heard reports that the footage I sold to the "From The Sky Down" folks made it in the final cut!

Re: U2 - Achtung Baby Reissue - Oct. 31

I really wish the super deluxe version came with a different full length live dvd. I mean, Sydney? Really? 99% of U2 fans already own this dvd. It's really pointless to include this, I think. Couldn't they find another pro-shot show from '92 or '93? Two discs of remixes seems a bit much too.
Still, despite my bitching, I'll get the super deluxe version.
I'm pretty sure both Achtung and Zooropa will be remastered for those worrying about this.

Re: U2 - Achtung Baby Reissue - Oct. 31

I don't know about this one. I guess I'll get the two disc, since I did with Boy, October, and War. Still wish they were doing a box like they did with Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire. Would that have killed them?

I guess it will be between the two disc or Smile on November 1. The other will have to be an Xmas present.

And yeah, Zooropa needs to get it's own remaster at some point.

I adore Achtung Baby but Smile kicks its ass ten ways to Sunday.

I believe it's early incarnations of AB tracks. My guess is some of them will be demo form to radically different completed versions. Mildly interested in this, but there's no way I'm springing for the big box set after seeing the complete tracklisting. I was kind of hoping they would do a separate deluxe release for "Zooropa", but I guess since the album was written while on the AB tour, it kind of makes sense to include it here.

Re: U2 - Achtung Baby Reissue - Oct. 31

Surprised I haven't heard anyone talk about the tribute album. Q Magazine is going to be releasing a tribute of Achtung Baby with the following artists:

Nine Inch Nails - Zoo Station
U2 (Jacques Lu Cont Mix) - Even Better Than The Real Thing
Damien Rice - One
Patti Smith - Until The End Of The World
Garbage - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Depeche Mode - So Cruel
Snow Patrol - Mysterious Ways
The Fray - Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Gavin Friday - The Fly
The Killers - Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
Glasvegas - Acrobat
Jack White - Love Is Blindness

I so want this. NIN, Depeche, Killers, Garbage, etc. Most tribute albums have one or two good bands. This looks awesome.

It's supposed to come free with the October 25 edition of QMagazine. I will have to figure out where to find that.

Wow. I have to pick that one up as well. Is that an English magazine? My aunt is arriving from London the week after that date. Might have to send her on a mission to grab that if I can't locate that myself.

Yeah it's a UK publication. You can usually find it at Barnes and Noble, but not on street date. Usually takes about a week for my local one to get them, I'm in Florida.

I'm actually looking forward more to that tribute album than the re-release of the real thing (since I have almost everything included that I want anyway). Definitely post if anyone knows how to best find this in the U.S.

Re: U2 - Achtung Baby Reissue - Oct. 31

I hope that I'm able to get that tribute album too.

My rule for remasters, especially since so many people say they are usually inferior or not that well done, is to simply buy them only from my absolute favorite artists. REM is a no-brainer for me as well as PJ.

Otherwise, it's case by case thing. Achtung Baby is not only one of my all-time favorite records, but has personal significance to me as well, so I'll buy the 2-disc set. I like U2 a lot, but I don't consider them to be one of my all-time favorites.

I'd also really love to have Little Earthquakes through From The Choirgirl Hotel from Tori Amos, especially if she made the 2nd disc worth it.

I would never buy these massive sets with trinkets and such. I just don't get why anyone other than a true collector, with a room entirely for collectible items would want that kind of stuff.

But that's just me.

Re: U2 - Achtung Baby Reissue - Oct. 31

I MADE IT IN THE DOCUMENTARY!!!

I posted some footage I shot a back in 1987 and 1988 on YouTube. I had Dec 20, 1987 footage of the band at the Arizona Biltmore right before the show & Nov 4, 1988 footage outside Mann's Chinese Theater for the Los Angeles Premiere of Rattle And Hum. I was contacted by a Film Footage Researcher working for the Doc Company that wanted to purchase the footage of just the stuff outside Mann's Theater. Contract, Credit, & Check later, Boom! Part of the Documentary. No one that saw it at TIFF could confirm that I for sure got in (Couple of folks thought it made it in) nor my name in the credits. So I was thrilled to see that I made it in. It's probably 3 seconds of screen time, but I'll take it!

Screen Shot

Credit!

YouTube footage they found (The stuff they wanted starts around 13min in...)

Thanks for this, sherm42!

I read the article which said that overseas plans will be announced later. Any chance you can update us? I'll keep watch too, but hoping someone will report if they find anything out or if they get the issue/CD.

According to this article, the tribute CD wont be available in US

http://ology.com/music/check-out-q-m...-track-listing

Bad news, U.S. fans… the new issue of Q Magazine doesn’t come with a copy of the album on this side of the Atlantic. I know, bad form! You’ll just have to keep your internet eyes and ears peeled for a copy.

I ordered a copy from http://www.greatmagazines.co.uk/QU2
