Saw Testament/Anthrax last week. Not a fan of their music and vocally they sounded a bit weak. Anthrax was great though, until I left.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I saw Karl Denson's Tiny Universe performing The Rolling Stone's Sticky Fingers album last Thursday at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA. If you like funk or Sticky Fingers check out this tour.

On Sunday I saw my go to band, Umphrey's McGee, for the 42nd time in the past decade. They continuously put on the best concerts I see every year, a rock show from start to finish.

I agree, the fact that he seems like such a down to earth guy and that they can bring it live makes me want to see them that much more now.

Somnarium=sonic bliss

Sauce07: I really enjoy seeing Umphrey's McGee live too, and I don't even know their material, they put on such a great live show though it is hard not to enjoy it, except trying to breathe amongst all the patchouli and pot smoke. They did covers of Cherub Rock & Regulate that were spot on.

Yes, there are a few dirty hippies sprinkled in the crowd but I also find a good amount of metal heads and old people. It's a pretty diverse crowd.

They do the best covers, always expect one or two and they rarely disappoint.

Really people, don't be afraid of hippies, see this band.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Caught Umphrey's last summer at The Stone Pony summer stage on a beautiful clear 75 degree night. Kick ass show and I don't know their material well.

This weekend I saw Sleigh Bells on Friday night before their Saturday SNL appearance.

Then Saturday night was Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes. Only saw a few songs each but they put on pretty good shows.

I wanted to check out that tour when it was in the area on Sunday, but I had too much work/class related things to get done

Anyone seen Reverend Horton Heat recently? He is coming to Tulsa on Friday and I'm thinking about going if we don't go to our debate tournament.

I was at that show, great night. I hope they do the outdoor stage at The Stone Pony again this summer, the past 2 years have been perfect nights.

I saw him last year, or maybe it was 2010, with Cracker at Mohegan Sun in CT. I'd seen RHH in the mid-90s as well. A good show -- I was there more to see Cracker, though. RHH played long. They weren't supposed to, but it looked like they were having a good time.

We were seated with the "Murdercyles" motorcycle gang, there to see RHH. The staff had to come over to make sure they didn't have a "problem". Interesting night. Hey, they seemed like nice guys.

You drove up from Virginia to The Pony? Damn.

Were you up front? I might have grabbed a photo of you.

Of course I drove up, I drive all over the east coast for this band.

I was not in front, I always chill by the soundboard.

Here's a video I took

Emilie Autumn last week. Great show, great performance. It was streamed live and the video should be available for purchase as well.

I saw The Civil Wars about a month ago. It was a very good show.

Can't wait to see them again.

O'Brother/Junius/Happy Body Slow Brain

All the bands were great, but it was sad to see 80-85% of the people leave after Junius finished their set.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Sam Sparro played a short set this past weekend. He's a dance act that got a lot of airplay in the UK a few years back. Had not heard of him before the show.

I'm seeing James Murphy and Juan McLean on Saturday.

YtG is awesome live. And their appearance at the Grammy's (or was it the VMAs) was brilliant. I might be seeing them again on Friday.

Saw Jane's Addiction Tuesday night. Good show. Perry was a bit weak with his vocals.

Last night was The Kooks and tonight is Kaiser Chiefs with Walk the Moon. I'm actually more excited about Walk the Moon.

Going to see them tomorrow night in VA and Perry's vocal recession into almost Vegas showman levels has me concerned. The setlist for the tour (which doesn't look to change) is impressive (song selection vs volume) for the old-school fans, so at least that will keep me energized.
