Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

The stage play in Beau Is Afraid definitely felt like a separate film, one that I would've preferred to watch instead of what surrounds it. It was a good break from all the anxiety-inducing stuff and...

Re: Attack of the Doc! G4/Attack of the Show documentary April 24, 2023

Question for those who bought the Blu-Ray: what are the 25+ hours of bonus content? I saw on the Film Threat site that there are supposed to be deleted scenes, but are they just more skits? As for...

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

^ You saw this part, right?

I realize it's easy to side with the sub and think 'ship go bye-bye so no one is the captain'. But again, I was hoping someone could chime in with how Starfleet...

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

^ Actually, I had forgotten about this incident until recently. Now I've forgotten what it was that resurrected this memory.

But it's funny how I can still remember details from Star Trek III even...

Re: Star Trek Discussion (1966-2005)

I need some help from Starfleet regulations experts and hope this is the thread for that.

I think it was back in '85 or '86 when I was in high school that a substitute teacher had the class play a...

Re: The Official 88 Films Blu-ray Thread

I guess it's too soon to tell if 88's Fist of Legend will be the unadulterated version with the

original opening and closing credits

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

Tully on BD, first-time watch. This was a blind buy...didn't even know Diablo Cody wrote it or that Jason Reitman directed it. I hadn't even seen a trailer for it so I had zero expectations which is...

Re: Best Coen Brothers Movies Ranked

I still have a ways to go with the Coens' filmography, but here's how I'd rank the films I have seen:

Blood Simple
No Country for Old Men
True Grit
The Hudsucker Proxy
The Man Who Wasn't...

Re: 'Secret' Christmas Movies

Three Days of the Condor falls under the same category as Running Scared...no one ever mentions what time of year it is, but in a few scenes you can clearly see Christmas decorations and a Salvation...

Re: 'Secret' Christmas Movies

Just thought I'd add to this thread with two Belgian movies that fit the theme:

Calvaire (2004) - Lounge singer Marc Stevens is on his way to a Christmas gig when his van breaks down in a remote...

Re: Meg 2: The Trench (D: Wheatley) -- S: Statham, Wu

You mean Montes
the guy who somehow manages to survive his sub getting wrecked and the underwater station collapsing around him?
Having him go up against Statham is a really poor substitute for JS...

Re: Meg 2: The Trench (D: Wheatley) -- S: Statham, Wu

I thought this one was an improvement on the first movie, but that's faint praise considering how I consider the first Meg to be the epitome of a bland, bloodless monster movie. At least someone...

Re: Good movies that aren’t really about anything?

I haven't seen the Qatsi trilogy (https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/934-the-qatsi-trilogy), but the films sound like they fit the topic. Or maybe they don't, and that's the reason no one's mentioned...

Re: Good movies that aren’t really about anything?

I think Yoko Ono's Up Your Legs Forever (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181108/) should be a pretty uncontroversial choice for a film that isn't about anything. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a...
