Re: Mark D. Bright - RIP

We're losing too many notable people from my comics heyday. Here's another that guts me. He was one of the first artists I could identify because of that very clean linework.
Loved everything I saw...

Re: Keith Giffen (JLI, LSH, Ambush Bug) has passed away :(

I liked the trades. Maybe after the third omni comes out, they'll release them on TP (which may be what you're saying).
It is an absolute crime those stories are not continually in-print.

Re: Keith Giffen (JLI, LSH, Ambush Bug) has passed away :(

It's really great to see the nice things said here and Reddit about Giffen. I know he's been working steadily, but with his heyday being over 30 years ago, someone like him can be forgotten.

I...

Re: The Mandalorian (S3E07) - “Chapter 23: The Spies” - 4/12/23

The OT and ST trilogies especially were focused on a small core of characters. I just like to think Grogu and the others were doing other things. No need to kill-off anyone just to "fit canon". (That...

Re: ELI5: new Xbox Series X

Ok— my bad on the title.
But it looks like some people had some fun with a new thread, so at least I contributed in some small way.

ELI5: new Xbox Series X

(Apologies in advance if this in the wrong section or asked incorrectly or is so lame to not be with responding to. Just taking a shot on a site I lurk in quite a bit and know many here know their...

Re: Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head (Paramount+) -- premieres 8/4/22

This show is so stupid it's genius.
Mike Judge's line readings are 75% of the joy I get from this show. Even the obvious joke, delivered by Judge, is a delight.
My son is 30 years younger than I...

Re: Shows you won't rewatch due to terrible last seasons/ bad finales or no final season?

Have you tried a rewatch?
HIMYM was my favorite show for the first few years, but I felt it lost the inventiveness as it went on (and they had to make more and more twists to keep the series going)....

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

Like I said would happen when I posted my "final list": someone would put another name in my head. Can't say Robinson would make Top Ten, but Golden Age, JSA, and Starman put him in the "just missed"...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

Well, my comics heyday was from about 1985-2000, so your note that it's heavy on 80s/90s DC is spot-on (although I was a Marvel Zombie and the Avengers books in the beginning, JLI, Lobo, Suicide...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

I have lost track of the names and where we're at.
Maybe it's time to just wing it and try to make my list and hope someone else doesn't trigger me to remember a name that I feel guilty for not...

Re: George Perez reveals he has inoperable cancer

This one is gutting to me.

I, of course, admired his work, but the stories and links you all have put in this thread the past few months made me an admirer of the man.

R.I.P, Mr. Perez.

Re: Neal Adams - Dead at 80

Thanks, Trevor and Red Hood, for the posting the obits.
Adams' heyday was a bit before my time, but I knew the name and the style. Reading what was written about him really hit me hard. ...

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (S1E01) -- Premiere -- "Strange New Worlds" -- 5/5/22

Interesting... That's for calling that out.
I have to admit now that I looked up the definition that I used the wrong word ("arrogant" and "aggressive" seem to be a close synonyms, and I don't feel...

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (S1E01) -- Premiere -- "Strange New Worlds" -- 5/5/22

That is the exact word I used with my friend after seeing Mount's Pike on Discovery years ago: swagger.
Swagger has been much-missed in Trek shows of late. These people have the coolest job in the...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

Didn't expect to see him (doesn't have a lot of interior/consistent work), but Adam Hughes is the other "must buy" creator I have. I don't buy singles anymore-- unless it's got a Hughes cover. I've...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

The only name who should be on my list from the past few days is Stuart Immonen. His work on Legion -- and then on Superman-- in the '90s was during my favorite time for DC Comics. As Hokeyboy said...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

A couple more to add to my list...

Bob Layton : I know he's had many roles in his career, but his inks over Bright (as well as his own pencils) on Iron Man is what hooked me on comics. Sleek,...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

Fair enough.

I didn't go back that far, and reprints were tougher on my budget because I pretty much bought every super-hero title from the Big Two for a five years or so (and Image and Malibu for...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

Naturally, I couldn't get logged-in and comment until now.
Will pay catch-up and with just the ones on my list.
I don't know what my Top Ten list is (aside from three must-haves, two of which I...

Re: Play a game with me, who are your top comic creators?

This is a really great thread. Nice work, Trevor.
I'm mostly a lurker (read at work but never log-in; rarely check this forum at home), but I hope to chime in soon.
There have been some great names...

Re: Spider-Man where to start catching up post 2005

Continuity does play some role, but it's the mere fact that there are just too many relaunches and resets-- and side-mini's/one-shots/crossovers that make reading A-Z tough. And companies (via...

Re: Spider-Man where to start catching up post 2005

It's no wonder comic books are (again) dying off.

I am not a regular buyer (not for about 20 years), but between two library systems, I was able to borrow Volumes 1-15 of Nick Spencer's Amazing...
