DVD Express + Strictly Ballroom = ?

I cannot seem to find the previous thread on the shipping status of Strictly Ballroom at DVDExpress. Has anyone received their copy? $13.33 or not? Anyone?

Same here, with a different title. I'm about to cancel my order with them. So long, DVDExpress, and good riddens!

Well I finally recieved responses (to all 4 of my emails too) and they said:

The message below is automated, and is being sent to many people with
the same subject as you. We know it may not address every question, but
we are hopeful that it will answer most of our customer's concerns. If
your question does not pertain to your order's status, we ask that you
reply to this e-mail, and we will address your issue as soon as
possible.

DVD Express knows it is important that customers receive their products
on time. Despite our best efforts, we are currently having difficulty
acquiring the necessary merchandise from our usual distributors. We are
doing everything possible to locate the goods elsewhere so we can
fulfill this order soon.
Funny thing is... it's still listed as 2-3 days shipping time on the website....

I received an email to my responses a few days after I cancelled my order. Go figure.

Also, I'd like to state that I love how easy it is to cancel an order. You know the web site designers really understood how great DVDExpress is and got the important things right.

I'm still waiting.

I’m not in too big a rush, so I’ll hang on longer. I think I’m more determined to see this play out than to cancel and buy elsewhere.

Anyone who still has an open or pending order with DVDExpress should be vary wary, and make sure you didn't get charged already.

My latest order with them was from last month, when I ordered some clearnce items from the Bargain basement. I got a shipping confirmation email the next day, and my CC was charged on the same day as well. The problem was, the USPS tracking number provided in the email is not even recognized by the postal office. I send in 2 emails and got no response. Numerous calls to the toll-free number (busy all the time) and their listed number could not get me in touch with anyone either. Every single department listed in their system all goes to the default voice mail box. I finally got fed up after 4 weeks of non-response and disputed the CC charge. The funniest thing was, after I made the dispute, I got the same automated email claiming that my inquiries will be answered shortly. Fortunately, I did receive my order 2 days later. But it was not until I had been charged 4 weeks prior and all the hassels I had to go through contacting them.

I have ordered from DVD express 5 or 6 times before, and never had any problems. I always order things that they have in stock, and never had to deal with any back-order problems. But this latest experience made me realize that these guys are definitely on the last leg, and I will not be ordering from them anymore.

I'm having the same problem. I ordered some $3.99 DVDs a month ago. It was in "pending" status forever. Then I finally get a shipping notice. It says they were shipped via FedEx, but the tracking # on the site is invalid when I enter it at FedEx.com. It's going on almost two weeks since they "shipped" it.

To add to my troubles, some of the titles mysteriously jumped up to regular price after I ordered them so I was overcharged around $100.

Countless emails in the past month to customer service and all I get is automated replies. Phone line is always busy.

I should dispute the charges but I really want some of those $3.99 DVDs. I guess I can dispute that extra $100, can't I? Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?

PAL, I'm glad you finally got your DVDs. I hope things turn out okay for me as well.

I had a similar situation, where i had ordered about 25 of the $3.99 titles, web site and email sadi they shipped, but they didn't show up for two weeks. Especially strange since I live only about 60 miles from their wherehouse. A couple other single disc orders placed at the same time and with email notifications of shipment at the same time did show up within 2-3 days.

I emailed a couple times with no response, then suddenly three large boxes showed up at my door with all my discs (except for those backordered) inside. Funny thing was, the discs were sent priority mail!

So, I would say that just because they email you and say that an item has shipped doesn't necessarily mean they have. However, ultimately what they said shipped did actually show up.

I'm still waiting it out. I don't expect to ever get it though I am amused they still say it ships in 2-3 days on the website. I'm tempted to purchsae it that way to see if I get it, but I trust their return policy even less

Cynthia, I understand that you'd like to hold out for the bargains, but I wouldn't wait too long before taking action. Most CC companies only allows 90 days after the transaction date to dispute charges, so your window will be somewhat limited. Depend on when your charges were posted, you would need to address the situation with your CC company soon, especially on the mischarges. Good luck.

I'd also like to point out that the order history database @ DVDExpress.com is now totally screwed up. If you did not print out a confirmation page after placing an order, you won't be able to retrieve anything from previous orders. If anyone tries to look up order status on past orders, all you'll get is some error messages that the data cannot be accessed. This is also another disturbing sign that DVDExpress is going down, maybe in the near future.

blitzkrieg on DVDExpress

My office mate and I both are still having problems with STRICTLY BALLROOM and DVD Express. We have been bombarding them regularly with e-mails, and tomorrow I plan to start faxing them. I think everyone is right here and they don't want to honor their preorder price.

The ordering it at regular price to prove a point is tempting, too, but I doubt it will end in satisfaction as no one could ever get through to tell the company they were screwed.

Henry, if you had seen my earlier post, you would've known that there is no chance in hell that you would even get put on hold. Because DVDExpress has basically stopped answering the phones.

That number you listed will get you into a voice-mail system. I tried every department, and they all goes to the same mailbox. So if you like, you can try to spam their mailbox. But I doubt if you'll get any live person to answer the phone.

Hey does anyone know if this site is still alive. They keep updating but don't appear to be shipping and they sure don't answer their phone or respond to E-Mails.

Actually I got a 1 day turn around on an email query a week or so ago They still promise they are looking for this and will eventually send it out. I'm going to keep the order active and see what happens, but I'm still not holding my breath

Last week, I sent this hasty email to DVD Express for the heck of it:
It's now been over two months since this DVD was released. What's your excuse now? I want this DVD for the price I agreed to.
Response came today.
Dear DVD Express Customer,
Thank you for contacting us. The response you received indicates the reason your order hasn't shipped: we are having supplier problems. The price you pay for an item has no affect on its availability. Price also is not a factor in determining which orders get filled.
At least the response wasn’t automated. That’s encouraging.

Having a response is encouraging, but "Supplier problems" isn't. It may be an excuse for "we haven't paid our bills so suppliers are reluctant to ship to us". And if that's the case, it might not ever turn around.
