ummm...Best Buy is where I get all mine. You're not getting cheaper than that in NYC. Sorry.

You could try J&R Music World near City Hall or Entertainment Outlet on 14th Street & 6th Ave, but these prices aren't much cheaper than you'll find anywhere else.

There's also the Street Vendor near J&R Music World on John Street that's out there on weekdays during the afternoons. His new releases are $15 flat and sometimes he has other deals.

You should try Discorama at 186 W. 4th St. I know they have two more locations in Manhattan and one of them is in Union Sq. but I'm not sure where the other is. They have lower prices that Best Buy and J & R but they don't carry many copies of each DVD so you might have a harder time finding it in stock.

Street DVDs are pretty much guaranteed to be bootlegs.

"Best Buy" is NOT a good place to get cheap DVDs (unless, perhaps, in the intiial week of release when they're on the biggest sale - but not even then many times) - you can almost always do better online at DDD.

I'll second the Discorama recomendation. I've shopped there for years - the selection is a bit limited at times, but when they have what you want, it's usually at a good price (and they are VERY close to the Christopher st/sheridan square stop on the "1" train).

You can also find decent deals - especially on used stuff - in the St. Marks place area which is the East Village (Discorama is in the West village). That's between 1st & 2nd avenue on 8th (I think?) street (you can take the 4/5/6 trains to Union Square or the N train to..I forget the stop..it might be 7th st), and it's a short walk to there)

There also a lot of GREAT and cheap restaurants and bars around there. :^)
