I am thinking of pre-ordering with them, but i have never used them before. They have some good prices plus free shipping. Has anyone pre-ordered from them? If so how was the experience?

I have only ordered two dvd box sets so far. xfiles 2 and 3. xfiles 2 shipped out quick but did take awhile to get to me (they ship media mail for free). all in all i would say that they are fine just give the package time to get to you. if you need it quick. look around for retailers who ship first class or better.

DDD offers Priority Mail too, but you have to pay for it.

Does anyone know if when I pay the $3.95 extra for priority shipping, is that for all shipments, no matter how many there are? Say if I order 15 titles, and they all come out at different times, will I get the priority shipping on all of them, and only have to pay the $3.95 once?

When I did this they made me wait until all the titles were released before they shipped them.

Also, every time I have ordered they have been out of stock of at least one of the items and their packaging has been poor. I will still order from them because they always get me my order and their costumer service is very good, in my opinion. Just don't be in a hurry to receive your items if you order from them.

I'm having a problem with DeepDiscount DVD on a pre-order of Empire Records. I was just told by a CSR that DDD has still not received any Empire Record DVDs from their supplier. The DVD was released on 4/3/01, I placed my pre-order on 3/27/01.

I've ordered other DVDs from them with excellent results, but I'm not happy with my first pre-order experience.

Anyone else had similar problems with DeepDiscount?

rainman15,

these guys have to have THEIR preorders in 4-8 weeks in advance. If you order that close to street, you run the risk the smaller guys didn't order enough extras to ship for a while. Even the big guys get caught short when they are running a really good sale or the manufacturer's initial run is short.

matchpenalty,

That's what I was afraid of, I generally submit pre-orders about 4 weeks ahead. I guess I'll wait it out until DDD gets restocked from their supplier. Thanks

Slower and Slower Service from DDD

Some of my prior preorders were shipped to arrive on the release date. However, my most recent preorder was for an item released 4/3. CSR states the item shipped on 4/5 (apparently it was shipped on a slow boat from China, or perhaps it is on the Navy plane in China).

Pretty good the one time I used them...

I pre-ordered sets 3 and 4 of The Prisoner and received them earlier this week. Amazon shows a release date of the 4/24, so that's *way* early.

On the negative side, they never sent an e-mail saying they had shipped, so I was surprised when it came.

I ordered Prisoner sets #1, 2, 3, 4... I received email the day after ordering, confirming that 1, 3, & 4 shipped. And I received them yesterday. They then emailed me telling me that set #2 would be shipped out on the 19th. They're my favorite DVD e-tailer. Next on my list are the Thunderbird sets. woohoo!

I've had a couple of problems with DeepDiscountDvd. I ordered Charlie's Angels for 19.79. Then I asked for a price match for 17.99. They agreed but instead of just crediting me for the difference, a la Buy.com, they canceled the order and redid it. At least that's what they said they did. When I checked my credit card online I saw BOTH charges. I emailed them, they respond very quickly, and the admitted they made a mistake and told me to send back 1. I asked for a return postage paid label and an immediate credit. They said they didn't have labels and wouldn't credit my account until they got the one back. It's been a week and I'm still waiting for the credit. Unlike them, I sent it back 1st class mail.

Even worse is the long wait to get what you ordered.
I ordered Legend of Drunken Master on 3/11/01. It was due out 3/13/01. According to them it was shipped 4/2/01. It is now 4/15/01 and still no sign of it.
At the same time I ordered KRULL which was supposed to be released 4/3/01. I emailed them about it 4/13/01. They replied they are still waiting for it from their distributor. I had the same problem with them with the 6th Day dvd.
They should change their motto from being the lowest price place to the slowest shipment place.
By the way, I don't beleive they give free shipping they just tact it in to the price of the dvd. For instance, If they sell a dvd for 19.00 other places will have it for 16.50. They must see what other places are selling items for, add in shipping and then take off a little.

I'm still waiting on Children of the Corn from 4/10 and Cherry 2000, which claimed to be in stock on the website but was backordered.

Is there no way to check order status without e-mailing them? I couldn't find it on the site.

My 1st pre-order with DeepDiscount was for Space Cowboys which was released 4/17. As of today (4/19), they claim they have not received their supply yet. They cannot (or will not) provide a date when they expect to receive their supply. I placed this advance order with them on 2/26. I realize they are relatively new; but, this is, in my opinion, a highly questionable way to conduct business. It, certainly, does not promote customer confidence. I have become very leery of this company.

I've used them several times now, and the preorders have shipped within a couple of days of the release date.

I am also waiting on my Space Cowboys release. Just like above, they said they have not received their shipment yet. I have ordered from them a few times and although I would like my preorders on the day they are release, I can understand a day or two later for free shipping. But to have to wait a week or two after release is uncalled for and it might be worth it to go elsewhere if you want it now.
