The two extra viewers outside of the household cost $7.99 extra per sub account.

In any case, because I never shared my account I never needed that many simultaneous screens (let alone 4k screens) so I never upgraded to 4k.

The regular level is allowed +1 sub account at $8, premium/4k is allowed +2 sub accounts at $8 a piece, ad-based and the former bottom tier aren't eligible.

I dislike the regional taxes and fees for cable the most. Almost $25-$35 in fees last time I had it (2018).
Though it could be an illusion and maybe the streaming service just buries it in the overall cost instead of itemizing like cable.

I think the deal with Spectrum is two free boxes with the package with cable/WiFi.

My spectrum tv plan is basically just streaming. No boxes, everything is off the internet through their app (so you need a compatible device like appletv but can otherwise watch channels on anything that has it). Need to be on home internet to watch some of the channels but not all. When the price goes up in a few months because the promo is up, we'll see what it rises to but bundled with internet, which I need, it's fine even if I don't use it much.

Netflix says they have over 15M subscribers worldwide on the ad supported plan. Anyone here actually downgrade to that?

I recently joined the Netflix preview club a few months ago. I’ve seen two new movies coming in 2024. Both were a “work in progress” from a production standpoint. Afterwards you have to fill out an online survey similar to those theatrical test screenings. And of course you have to sign an NDA. You’re able to view it on your streaming device with the unique PIN code.

Yeah I work in live sports and I’m not excluded according to their guidelines. I don’t work for a news station or major TV network and don’t deal with entertainment or entertainment news. And I don’t work for a studio. So I’m good. And really they don’t check. Just don’t be an idiot and brag on social media that you saw xxx movies before everyone.

Shit, went through hassle to sign up for T-Mobile's "On Us" deal for Netflix that showed on my Plan, then a couple days ago they took it away. They said I'd have to upgrade my plan to get Netflix for free, but then I'd lose HULU for free.

Netflix viewership numbers (First Half 2023), used hours instead of views:

I saw this yesterday and was kind of surprised by the list. I don't recognize half these shows including the first one which basically has 20% more hours viewed than second place. Cool to see Korean dramas/shows being all the way up there though.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
The big problem is that the top shows are skewed toward shows released
near January. Better metric would be a show's first six months numbers
(regardless of release date), but it is what it is...
Movies get the shaft on the list naturally because they're shorter than series...

The other thing is that I swear so much of what gets tried out/viewed depends on how their algorithms work displaying the shows. There are times when a show is a little bit older and it's almost impossible for me to find unless I look up the name and search directly for it.
