Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

I think MGM + has a better than average on-demand library of movies. The channels usually are old hat and rarely show anything new(once in a while there will be a new release).

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

I used to be able to watch EPIX through their app with my Dish subscription but with the change to MGM+, I can’t find a way to log in to the new app using my Dish credentials. Any way to do this or is the only way to watch MGM+ in the app is to subscribe directly to it?

Two things they could do to pump up subscriptions:

Announce they are picking (back) up Pennyworth for a 4th and final season.
Get Brad Wright’s Stargate project into production.

I don’t think James Gunn cares about Pennyworth. Also the show is owned by WB/DC and they ultimately control it now and decided to not make anymore.

Is the Epix app still there? On my Roku, there's still an Epix app so I logged in there with my Xfinity account and it worked. There's also an MGM+ app but it also was asking me to subscribe.

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

I know there used to be an EPIX app for cable subscribers and an EPIX Now app for direct to consumers. I cancelled my EPIX subscription last month and got the annual plan instead so I'm using the MGM+ app. The EPIX Now app is gone, but like was mentioned the EPIX app is still there and asks for my TV provider information.

There should be an app called "EPIX Stream with TV Package" or something similar for people looking to login via their television provider.

The MGM+ app is only for direct to consumer subscriptions.

https://www.mgmplus.com/help

The MGM Plus website has an email and phone number. Maybe try asking them how do I stream if I already have a paid linear subscription or if it's simply not available at this time.

The MGM+ service now has a yearly opyion of $49.99, which is a great deal. Pay for the year and it comes out to $4.16 per month instead of $5.99. If you did the monthly tier it'd be $71.88 for the year, so you save $21.89 doing it the whole year at once.

MGM+ doesn’t have enough content, in my opinion, to be worth an annual sub. Amazon has historically had a $1.99/month for 2 months sale on Epix from time to time that’s ideal for this service. I watch the few things I like that have new seasons, for minimal cost. There hasn’t been one since the rename, but hopefully these sales will continue.

For $4.16 per month it's more than worth it and takes the guessing game out of timing their sales and the tedium that comes with navigating the Epix, MGM+, and even the Apple Channels page. I just started watching S1 of From and S2 premieres tonight. I also read that there's S2 of Chappelwaite on the way, as well.

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

If you only subscribe to streaming services for new original shows, then MGM+ is probably not for you. Their original shows are a little light. The most notable shows they have are From, which just started it's 2nd season and Godfather of Harlem, which has gotten some prestige recognition. Billy the Kid, which I haven't watched yet, just got renewed. Condor also got a 3rd season from them.

But, a lot of their other series have either been canceled, ended or are international pickups like War of the Worlds. Definitely not the library that Max or a Netflix has.

I love these 3. Supposedly a season 3 of Condor was being or has been produced, but if so it's unclear if MGM+ will pick it up. Given the big time gap between ending the production of 2 and beginning the production of 3 I assume the only returning cast member would be Max Irons.

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

I got an email today that my MGM Plus subscription was going up to $58.99 in March. My billing cycle ends on February 15, so I decided to cancel.

Granted, it's under $5 per month and that's not expensive, but I need to pair down some of my subscriptions and MGM Plus was one of the ones I watched the least and a lot of their stuff aside from the few original shows appears on Paramount + beforehand.

Maybe I'll rejoin later down the road (when From season 3 comes out) if they have a deal, but for now, I already have more than enough to keep me busy.

I canceled my plan but I'm good until the end of April. I'll wait until From S3 premieres before I renew.

FWIW, it still renewed at the $49.99 price in February. So if you rejoined now the price increase wouldn't be in effect until next year.

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

While new customers will pay the higher price beginning today, existing subscribers have another month before their price increase takes effect. Amazon is increasing the price of MGM+ for existing subscribers on March 1, 2024. As is typically the case with price increases, the exact date an individual subscriber will pay the higher rate will depend on their individual billing cycle, with March 1 being the very earliest.

Regardless, I'm going to let it lapse. I have enough on plate already. I'll probably re-join again for From season 3.

Re: MGM+ streaming service (formerly EPIX NOW)

and almost 2 months later, MGM+ sent me an email with a special comeback offer.

$17.49 for 6 months. That's less than $3 per month. That works for me. Going to use that period to catch up (when I can) on Beacon 23, From season 2 (I finished season 1 shortly before my last subscription ended) and Hopefully The Winter King, which I never got to.
