ER Season premiere

So, as I see it earlier than everyone else (if that's still the case, it was actually pver an hour ago, but I watched other things).

I thought that :
Spoiler:
they really jumped to a different story quickly... it's like 'forget everything about the mystery disease by cutting off Romano's arm'. The guy is far from my favorite, but damn, that was nasty! I kind of wish they just hadn't basically thrown away the disease as some mutated monkey disease and left it at that... I did find the comment about evacuating once a year to save money funny though, but it only added to the what I thought was just dismissing the plot that they began with.

Am I still always the first to see the show or have others seen it yet?

Ewww....even though I knew it was coming, it was pretty shocking.

Spoiler:
I'm taking about our favorite (now Ex)chief surgeon.

I think that was about as surprised as I've been watching TV since that woman fell down the elevator on LA Law

Pretty good way to start off.

Is it just me, or does Maura Tierney (Abby) get better looking each season?

I suppose it was okay.

I'm hoping Romano doesn't turn into "Regarding Henry". [getting all nice and whatnot]

Chen looking good as usual.

Where's Jerry?

I think it's just you Patman. I was hoping Abby would get swept away by a tsunami when she jumped in the ocean...

Other than that...C+

Well I didn't see it coming.
I almost fell off my sofa when Romano got sliced!

Yes, Abby is looking hotter!
I was wishing it was cable there at the end.

I like the new "do" too.

Ya know, some folks actually do live on the west coast....

Yes, Abby is looking hotter!
And did anyone else notice when they showed her midriff, it appeared that she had lost a few pounds (and I don't mean because of the quarantine) and/or had been working out?

Definitely buffer than she has looked in eight or so years, as opposed to Sherry........

One thing that stood out to me was when Carrie came to visit Robert (Day 13 I believe) she asked the nurse if anyone else had come to see him, and the nurse responded that there have been no visitors.

I think Romano leads a very lonely life, and it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to his injury/handicap. In the "Regarding Henry" sense, I hope he becomes a little nicer, but I don't think that'll happen for awhile... he seemed pretty bitter.

OT: I liked "The Doctor" with William Hurt better than Harrison Ford in "RH", amd I hope that that is the direction they might take.

Plus, from the teaser for next week, looks like Pfiefer is going to get a big dose of "reality" right in the kiester!

BTW, it was good to see Dr. Anspaw again... and I loved his line "What was Robert thinking?"

Incredible episode. I didn't blink during the whole commercial break after Rocket got diced. Just when you thought it was going to be a predictable episode!... A+

(i'm sooo glad i didn't see that spoiler thread back in july)

I knew the arm was coming off... but I still loosed an expletive at the television set when it happened, largely because of how they portrayed it. Yeesh. And how sad is it that no one even knows if there's anyone else for Romano?

The NBC ghost pattern in the corner of the screen was right in the middle of Abby's back when she pulled her shirt off at the end of the show, and I had to rewind to make sure that she didn't have an oddly shaped patch of hair back there or something.

Mekhi Phifer's character could've smuggled a seven course French meal into the ER, and I still wouldn't like him. It seems like they're setting him up for a few lessons in humility this season, though. I wish they'd just give him the axe already.

I think all the women looked great, if not better (rrrrrowr, Abby). Even Laura Innes was looking better.

Good catch on Romano having No visitors. They also
asked if he had any family earlier in the ep.

All the ladies of ER looked pretty hot tonite.

My favorite lines were when Romano was sort of awake
and realized he was still at county. & Day 9 with Abby & Carter
were talking about if anyone knew. And she said you were
a little loud. Or however it was said.

As for the Small Pox/Monkey pox just written away.
I think they a took a page or 2 from Millenniums 3rd season
opener.

I'm glad they're finally letting her character look a little less dowdy. Laura Innes is a lot better-looking than you might think:

Even though I knew what was happening to Romano, my jaw still dropped when it actually happened. Overall, I thought the episode was well done. Although I think I've pretty much lost interest in the whole Abby and Carter thing, and I really can't stand Pratt.

Get ready for more shocks, racier stuff, and personality changes this season, folks. From the spoilers I've heard, ER is pulling out all the stops to garner its audience this year.

Not a bad episode... but you can tell ER is getting to its last legs. I bet it's all over next year when Wyle's contract is up.

It was amazing that nobody came to see Romano. Not even that blonde girl he was always walking around with. Maybe she dumped him?

As soon as I saw the warning at the beginning of the episode, I knew the spoilers on Romano were true.

I was winching when the helicopter scene played out (since I knew what was possibly coming), and then it happened and I was like "Ugh! Ewww! That's definitely gonna leave a mark!"

Romano has always been portrayed as an unlovable, distant man (though a skillful surgeon), who is blunt to a fault, and keeps people at bay. It wasn't shocking to me that he'd have no one to come look for him in the hospital and comfort him after his major accident. He's got the loner personality (of which, only his perceived wealth as a surgeon gets him the companionship of women, not his personality).

Below is quoted from the Spoiler Stickie Thread at the top of this page.

Regardless of this quote, maybe it's just me but I wouldn't open a thread about a show (especially a major season premier) until I had actually seen it. It seems to simply be common sense.

"A note on "XYZ-Show Date" threads. It's common practice in this forum that thread titles that consist of the show title and it's air date WILL contain spoilers, regardless of a warning in the thread title. Enter at you're own risk!"

Your post is at 9:07 EDT so I assume you see it 7:00-8:00 PM EDT. If so, you are three hours ahead of US East coast showing which is 10:00-11:00 EDT. Don't know if your lead changes next month when we come off daylight time.

Abby is so hot. Not 'porn star' hot, but 'girl next door' hot.

I miss Dr. Greene though.

I liked the moment where Army dude finally got to Sherry with the dead guy. I think he is really coming into his own as a character.

Does anybody care about Corday? She was only important as a piece of ass in this show, when she was either attached to Green, Benton, or Robert. Now that she has a kid and a dead husband she's totally irrelevant.

The show comes to a screeching halt whenever Corday appears on screen. All the scenes in England allowed me opportunity to piss, grab more beer, whathaveyou last night without missing anything important. Commercials were more entertaining.
