Its filmed in HD but was shown in streched vision on Cartoon Network HD. I saw black bars and warped geometry during the "HD" broadcast. Colors were sharper and grain was gone but it wasn't true HD.

Yeah, it's up here.

It's cool to see they're doing the show in widescreen now, but hopefully when the DVD comes out, they won't screw up like they did with Metalocalypse S1 and release it non-anamorphic.

Weird to have a season premiere with no one from the Venture side (except for a non-speaking Brock), but still enjoyed it a lot.

Dr. Venture makes a quick blink and you'll miss it cameo when the Monarch plows the Monarch Mobile 1.0 through the Venture Estate. The female bodyguard (who we presume was Brock's precursor) is standing behind him then steps away to wail on the Monarch.

That was Venture's ex-wife (or was she just a girlfriend), and is the mother of Hank & Dean - she's in an episode during season 2 and is way crazy now.

I did like the line where the Monarch was like "Thats not the song that played" and then there was that whole bit about Bjork's lawyers not allowing them to use the song.

At least the continuity was spot on from stuff mentioned in previously, namely the red streaks in Dr. Girlfriends hair "like that chick from the band Republica".

Laughed at all the previously mentioned remarks, but also loved Monarch's aside 'It's David Bowie'.

Glad to have VB back!

She was Dr Ventures bodyguard before Brock, and Hank and Deans mother

Not entirely. If you go back to the first season when Dr. Venture has a yard sale, there's a scene where Dr. Girlfriend lies to the Monarch about never having met Phantom Limb before.

i thought it was pretty good overall. Loved how dr. grilfriend said "No way" to henchman #9 (actually #24, i believe), when that was originally the Monarch in that #9 costume she had an issue with.

And the ending with phantom limb and Man-o-taur was hilarious. "no one gets off the phantom limb's shit-list"

They started it 3 minutes early, but it was a new episode - you can see it right here.

The Venture Bros. --- "The Doctor Is Sin" --- 6/8/08

Airs Sunday, June 8, at 11:30 p.m. on Adult Swim.

Plot summary:

Spoiler:
Dr. Venture learns that life with no arch enemy is not nearly so sweet when he finds himself besieged by C-list pretenders to the Monarch's throne, and his super-science business once again on the rocks. Despite the best effort of family and friends, it will take the help of a dark and mysterious stranger to get Doc's life back on track -- but will it cost him his soul?

Yes, this thread is a couple of days late. I was out of town on vacation, blissfully nowhere near a computer. But I want to make sure there is a thread for each episode, so better late than never!

I very rarely watch anything on Toon. After last week, I thought the scheduling issues had been worked out and I wouldn't need to pad. So much for that plan, I missed the first 3 minutes because it started early.

I added 5 minutes to the start for next week.

Yeah, even though I padded a minute (foolishly thinking it'd be enough), when the show started in mid-sentence, I immediately paused it, went to the [adult swim] website, and watched the intro up to where it was on my DVR - I was shocked that I had missed the entire intro, the credits and the first scene. But the image quality of the show on the website really sucks, but it's good for stuff you missed.

My DVR missed the first and this one. Do I need to add 5 minutes to the end?

I didn't add 5 minutes at the end. Toon seems to start early, so it ends early.

This episode was the one they played the first 11 minutes of a few months ago. I had already seen the part I missed.

This one looks great. Hopefully it is up to the quality of the last two episodes.
