My personal opinion is that there are more people praising it, rather than upset about it. But basically all you see on TV is people talking about the controversy about the film. It's too bad.

My dad is an Assembly Of God minister and he has gotten a lot of feedback from well respected friends of God (ministers, youth pastors etc...) who have seen this film and say nothing but good things about it. People (unbelievers) who have worked with Mel on this film have gotten saved because of it. Which I think is pretty cool! I really think that there's a presence (evil force if you will) that is trying it's best to put some negative connotation with this film but that's just my opinion.

Here's something I found on Rotten Tomatoes that I thought was cool. James Caviezel (who plays Jesus) comments on his experience working on the film.

Notice that I said "from a Biblical perspective." That's clearly what the Bible says numerous times and Christians believe that the Bible is God's Word in written form so therefore that's what Christians believe.

Unfortunately, there's no other way into Heaven from a Biblical perspective. However, IMHO, it's a worthy price to pay for an eternal life in Heaven vs. one in Hell.

As a side note, just cuz one says that he/she is Christian/Catholic/etc. doesn't mean that he/she really is one. Therefore, nominal Christians/Catholics aren't going to Heaven.
I think I know the quote you are referring to. He said something about even people who aren't Christians can get into heaven. I think by that comment he simply meant people who aren't part of a Christian church in a formal sense. I took that comment to refer to people who are believers but not necessarily church members. In that sense, I agree with him; church membership is not required to get into heaven.

Or he could have meant "blackies" as you so eloquently put it.

Sorry, let me rephrase. [sarcasm]I just think he could have used a less offensive term, like maybe "darkies"[/sarcarm]

So it seems reasonable to refer to isolated peoples who've never heard of jesus as "having a bone through their nose"?

I guess Im the only one but I thought that he came off as anti-semitic. It has been proven that the Jews didn't kill Jesus and it was in fact the Romans. This bothered me because I can see people starting to believe this and them treating Jews unfairly. BTW Im not Jewish. I definately think that he isn't playing with a full deck.

clarkkent -- What do you mean "it has been proven?" That is not what the Bible says. Of course the Romans ultimately killed him, but the Jews were calling for it. Mel Gibson is not anti-semitic. I thought that was fairly obvious last night in the interview. Maybe you just have preconceived notions and only hear what you want to hear. I can think of no other explanation.

Actually, it probably could be better said that Jewish leadership, or the Sanhedrin worked with the Romans to have Jesus killed. This is backed up by non-Biblical history.

Obviously, a significant number of Jews were not against Jesus as close to the cruxification as him entering the city on Palm Sunday as evidenced by the reception he received.

Of course, alternatively, theology would say all sinners killed Jesus, not Jews or Romans.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what he said.

...
Could you please refer me to the nonbiblical history that says that or anything else about Jesus? As far as I know, there is virtually no nonbiblical history of Jesus and what are claimed to be nonbiblical references to Jesus are highly questionable, to say the least:

Note that I am not saying I believe the biblical accounts either.
