I think there are only 4-6 directly linked episodes. You wouldn't need to worry about switching until after Buffy S3, since Angel started after that; then Buffy S7 finished ahead of Angel S5. Otherwise, you'd probably be fine with Buffy then Angel.

Re: I just started Buffy...
I recently got the complete series sets of Buffy and Angel. I don't know when, but sometime soon I'm going to start watching them. I don't think I've ever watched a complete episode of either show. Someone told me to watch Buffy and Angel back to back because that's how they showed them back in the day, but I don't want to wear my player out just by ejecting the discs that much. Can I watch one series at a time and not get confused? Or is there a point where I must absolutely watch an episode of Angel after an episode of Buffy?

I think that the comics are still going strong, I believe some are canon. There was Buffy Season 8, IDW had that Angel: After the Fall thing, which I believe was Whedon-approved, and Buffy is into Season Nine now, I think. I believe Dark Horse got the Angel license back and is doing another Angel series and another Spike series, but I've lost track. There was that Fray thing as well a while ago.

They are currently doing an Angel and Faith series. Always liked those two together and pick up the trades when they come out. Third is coming out sometime this summer.

Just watched season 3, episode 9 "The Wish,"
I appreciate the effort that goes into compiling a list like this, and appreciate your posting it here, but as I mentioned earlier, the daunting thought of having to swap discs like this kept me from starting Buffy for a long time. I'm going to finish Buffy, then maybe I'll do this for Angel, or for a general rewatch if I decide to tackle Angel by itself first, assuming I live this long.
Side note: This kind of thing might be easier in the digital age, say, watching the episodes on Amazon Prime--no swapping of physical discs.

Still slowly making me way through Buffy/Angel. I go back and forth with enjoying/not enjoying. But... I just reached "The Body". Honestly, one of the best episodes of TV I can remember seeing.

I watched BTVS on and off for the first five seasons, some good stuff, a few duds. Netflix stream in the wrong aspect ratio. I watched part of season 6, I found it so dour I eventually just bailed out. Only seen bits of Angel here and there, some full episodes.

I just finished a jaunt through Buffy and Angel and both hold up surprising well. I've seen both series a few times but this time around I was surprised at how unlikable I found Buffy to be during the later seasons. The character development on Angel was just phenomenal.

I watched Buffy on Netflix and found it to be pretty enjoyable despite an awful 7th season. I really liked the 6th season, and am surprised to see all of the hate for it, I guess I like my shows to be on the depressing side.
I never watched Angel because I thought David Boreanaz as Angel was the weakest link of the show, a pretty face with no range and a boring character on top of that. Buffy was much better when his character he left the show.

I have no idea what you are talking about with Dushku. Many wanted Dushku's Faith to replace Buffy on the show and she's extremely popular at conventions. She simply priced herself off the series trying to break into movies.

Angel's character is a bit one-note in Buffy, but I do think David Boreanaz's acting improves as Angel goes on. It helps that they let him display a more varied range on Angel, including humor.

Re: I just started Buffy...
If you want an idea of what the tone of Angel is, go back and watch the end of season 5 when
Spoiler:
It has its lighter episodes, and the same amount of laughs, but when bad stuff does happen, it happens harder and more brutally than it did on Buffy.

That's because Dollhouse sucked balls and was more a vehicle for her than a true Whedon-produced show. But I do think it shows how her character type, which was similar to Faith, is not strong enough to carry a show.

Everyone still looks good. Time for a revival!

I still don't understand why Netflix doesn't just show up at Joss Whedon's doorstep with truckloads of cash (once he gets over his nervous breakdown over the 2016 election anyhow).

Because Joss doesn't own the property, Fox does. Any revival deal would have to go through them.

Reunion vid on youtube
I've been rewatching Buffy from the start, up to season 3
Few things stand out
There are quite a few ordinary/poor episodes
Faith isn't quite as cool as i remember
Charisma Carpenter back then was more gorgeous than i remember, actually flawless
The Buffy and Angel stuff was actually quite cringeworthy at times
Season 5 and 6 are still my favourites, i actually feel Buffy got better when Angel left and Angel was way better on his own show.
