decent episode, had lots of potential but thought the writing was a bit too scatterbrained.
the digital short could have been much better. the voicemail part was way too predictable.
the 2nd presidential debate skit didn't go ANYWHERE and after that i turned it off. i think i only missed the 2nd feist song?

I thought Feist was great, and Williams was pretty funny.
Thumbs up on the Nightly News Opening Theme song bit, and the Principal Bit.
Shocked Williams was as good as he was, the show was watchable for the full 90, pretty rare most times.

I really enjoyed the Digital Short, it's nice when they can use that format to create something around the host that wouldn't have worked as a live skit.
On the other hand, that bit in Weekend Update about the writer's strike was awful, self-serving crap. I actually sympathize with the writers but that sort of thing makes me want to turn against them. There are a lot of good jokes they could have done concerning the strike... hell, they could have done an entire skit showing how various popular shows would be 'winging it' without their writers. Each show's actors would be improvising the whole thing... like say show Lost and have the actors coming up with outlandish story angles and explanations on the spot, one-upping each other along the way. Or the actors on some medical show making up obviously phony sounding diagnoses.

I loved the WU bit about the looming writer's strike.
"I don't have 200,000...I only have 20 Million."
"I hope you all get ass cancer!"

wow, this was easily the best SNL of the season, and certainly one of the best in recent years. I thought williams was FANTASTIC. the CW show bit was great, and Bronx Beat (which normally beats me to death) was really good - he sold the accent in that one, and really stuck with it. his obvious familiarity with prompters/cue cards showed through the entire episode. he was a natural.
Feist was pretty good. she's up there with KT Tunstall and Brandi Carlile as my favorite female solo artists right now.
only weak sketch to me was the debate one. went on too long.
i think williams has earned the right to be invited back many more times.

Why is it called "An SNL Digital Short" when it should be "A SNL Digital Short"? Is it because you're supposed to use "An" before an acronym regardless of it starting with a consonant?

Feist has been around much longer than the IPod commercial - sad that its were most people first heard her, but at least she's out there now.

BW did a great job. If he keeps it up, I could see him entering the Steve Martin/Alec Baldwin-esqe stratosphere.

I had to bump this thread after the article I read last night.
ABC World News had been #1 in the ratings for most of 2007, yet NBC Nightly News has won the ratings battle 9 out of the last 11 weeks. Analysts cannot find any other reason for this except Williams appearance on SNL in November.
Katie Couric should look into this when the writer's strike ends.
