Great episode.
I really liked the way they used the week by week story. I thought it kept them from falling into the trap of looking like 2 half hour episodes that the other hour long episodes fell into. It almost played out like 6 skits.

Far and away better than the Season 4 premiere... I think Amy Ryan is going to be a great addition to the cast.
Loved all the Jim/Pam stuff. Angela =Whore, hahahaha. Ryan's list of people that will have to pay had me rolling.

So glad to see positive reactions. I need to see this again the process everything that happened, but my first impression is they hit the right balance between humor and storyline progression.

Angela's description of how she sleeps at night was fantastic. I had forgotten it when I made my initial comments, but I think it was the funniest bit of the night as far as I'm concerned.
I wish they kept the Kevin stuff going a bit longer than they did, but it paid off well. I loved the math is hard line.

I was trying to remember why Meredith's face was all messed up and red towards the beginning. Was it a raccoon that was in her car and attacked her end of last season?

anyways, fantastic episode, I love Amy Ryan, shes great addition. Tons of great moments, Huge surprise of Jim Proposing, didn't expect that in the season primere, great way to do it too. I LOVED the ending with Micheal ripping the tickets, I couldnt believe that, that was a great office moment, hard to watch but funny as hell. Loved Micheal's goatee I really like how they didnt have him explain it right away either.
Great episode, I LOVE this show, probably my favorite show of all time.

No, I'm pretty sure something happened to her end of last season.
Or explain why it disappeared for one shot, only to reappear before he finally shaved it off. Or was I the only one that noticed the flub?

Since the episodes supposedly started in the Summer, I was assuming it was a bad sunburn that had blistered.

I dunno if the goatee appearing one week, disappearing the other, then reappearing the next week was a flub or not. I mean, it was a week, so I guess he could've grown it during that time, but I dunno.
lol @ Dwight growing one after Michael and Ryan stopped.

Dwight's little nod to the camera after banging Angela was sweet. Also, it's funny how Rich Sommer from Mad Men can look like a punk-ass college kid just by taking away the glasses and hair gel.

Overall, a nice episode. It started a little slowly, but picked up as it went on. I thought I would be annoyed by the whole jumpiing forward in time thing, being such a radical departure from the usual "you are there" feel of the show. But I have to say that it really worked pretty well here. Definitely light years better than most of last season's (IMHO) rather lame hour-long episodes.
I agree with some of the other posters that Amy Ryan is a very appealing addition to the show. And even though everybody seems to hate Ryan (the temp, I mean), I think he adds an extra humorous element via his weird relationship with Michael. It will be good to have him back in the regular setting of the show this season, rather than like last season when his character became a little grating.
I liked that they kept the Jim-Pam engagement thing as a low-key element of the plot. The way things are setup seems to indicate the writers will be doing something a little more interesting with that relationship as the season goes on, as opposed to last season when their characters were one of the less interesting elements of the show.
Hopefully, this episode is a promising sign that this season will get back some of the momentum the show lost for me last season.

Very good premiere. Much better than the hourlongs last season. I hope Amy Ryan sticks around. I heard she was hired for only 5 episodes and her remarks in that interview earlier in this thread seems to confirm this.
The proposal caught me off guard. They threw that little curveball with Pam and her classmate, so I was dreading a Ross/Rachel type of story arc for them.
