Graham Linehan mentions in the commentaries that often the audience would laugh so loud and hard that they'd have to reshoot the scene to get less of a response.
Well said and very true.

It doesn't matter if it's a track, or a live audience. It seriously puts me off any show.

I advise you to never see a comedic play then.

i dont know what it is but the 'live laughter" or whatever the proper term is, sounds extra annoying on this show. i dont mind it on american sitcoms and i usually can just drown it out, but for IT its just so in your face. im also really surprised at all the love for this show. i think its ok but not great, pretty cheesy really, which is fine for a sitcom. i guess i just expected more from such a highly acclaimed comedy when i first watched it.

The IT Crowd to film finale special in three weeks’ time

The IT Crowd is to return to Channel 4 for a show finale, with creator Graham Linehan confirming that the special episode will going into production in the next few weeks.

The comedian announced the news during a Q&A at the republica digital conference in Germany.

Cast members Chris O’Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson and Matt Berry are all expected to return, with the bumper 40-minute episode being shot later this month, according to Bleeding Cool.

An IT Crowd finale has been on the table for quite some time, with Linehan tweeting in December that he hoped ‘to do a special in the middle of next year’.

The sitcom, which was not given a fifth series, originally aired on Channel 4 between 2006 and 2010 and followed a geeky IT department at the fictional Reynholm Industries.

O’Dowd, who has gone on to star in HBO series Girls, previously expressed his interest in an IT Crowd reunion saying the characters still ‘need closure’.

‘I’d love to do something more with those characters,’ he admitted. ‘I don’t think we said goodbye to them properly.’

Awesomeness.

The series finale special will be airing at 9 pm on Friday September 27th on channel 4, for our British friends. The rest of us will have to "find" it...somehow.

Yep, enjoyed it!

Had a good laugh at the exchange between Reynholm and Moss, particularly Reynholm pleading with Moss to say "A confident man."

I'm in one of those reaction photos that they used in the news report (the one with the Hollywood sign in the background). I didn't get my whole face in, sadly, but it's better than nothing!
