Re: Lost -- "He's Our You" -- 3/25/09

Remember last week's episode when Ben was leading Sun through the jungle to his boat. Well, he took off his arm wrap (on his bruised or broken arm) so that indicates that the island is healing him (again?).

Do you think the surgery that Jack did on Ben in the first season is related to Ben being shot in the heart as a kid?

Re: Lost -- "He's Our You" -- 3/25/09

The editing makes it seem that Desmond remembered as it happened, but that can't really be, because when that happened in Island time, Desmond was only gone for a few days and we sorta know that on island time and off island time about 3 years passed.

Timeline
Desmond Leaves -- Few Days Go By --- Faraday meets Desmond in the past --- 3 years go by ---- Desmond remembers the meeting.

Does that make sense?

We've seen many instances of time travel to the past where if the O6 hadn't been there to do something then future events wouldn't have occurred. It seems everything has already happened before. If Locke hadn't had his conversation with Richard in '54 would he have visited him as a child? Would they have buried the bomb?

So, if the bomb is already buried before they go back to tell them to bury it then that's the same thing as the memory always being there. That's why Ben could have knowledge of the future. He knew Sayid. As Henry he recognized him no doubt.

This makes sense.

What doesn't gel? We've never seen something like THIS before. AND the island is somewhat immune to standard space-time rules. What's to say that the older Ben Linus isn't being protected by the island?

I forgot about old Ben still on the island in 2008...still that aspect to deal with. What a time paradox!
See above. I don't necessarily believe the island is sentient. Is there a "correct"? Why would anything have been allowed to go off-course this far to begin with? The smoke monster could have easily eliminated Ben well before the "off course" of which you speak.

Ugh. Why do I read these threads? They make my head hurt (and yes, I'm referencing your, poor redheaded Charlotte).

As I was reminded by my wife - Let's not forget Jack is a surgeon and Juliet is also a Dr.
If there is any chance he can be saved by mortal means, the "out" is there.

But Jack would have to do some serious explaining as to why he tested as a workman!

Please explain how seasons 2-4 are even remotely better than this one.

I'm thinking this may happen as well. It's possible that young Ben may have grown up to be a good man, but Sayid's betrayal is what turned him into a cold-hearted bastard.

I think I would prefer "the island" saving him over some miraculous bit of island surgery by Jack and/or Juliet.

It seems unlikely that young Ben will die, and I fully expect Richard to appear with some Hostile/native remedy, thus leading Ben on his path to Other leadership.

I have a feeling young Ben is dead, the show rarely revives a character after a "holy shit" death scene.

Pretty sure it was the third season. And it wasn't a flashback.

Best episode since The Constant IMO.
I don't see how Sayid could bring Ben closer to the Others when Ben thinks he's an Other, assuming Ben lives. But something is going to kill off the Dharma Initiative, maybe Uncle Rico and his mop.

If it did happen to one character on the show, I would pick Ben.

I'm kind of disappointed that Sayid killed him so unprofessionally. I expected this:

Two in the chest, one in the head. That's pretty standard.

well, that would pretty much remove all doubt that Ben was dead. I think we're supposed to question if he's really dead.

I guess I was under the impression that the Processing center was located in the living area of the barracks. The new recruits had to be driven there after they arrived.

Something just seemed "off" during Sun's and Lapidis's scene at the barracks. The windows were boarded up. Things seemed more over grown than it should have been after a couple of years.

Plus the numbers were being broadcasted during the Akira plane crash. Small clues that things are different.

I hope that we are not dealing with two timelines, but it is certainly possible.

He's not. The island will heal him just like it did Locke in S3...ironically when Ben didn't finish the job.

In that scene the camera pulled back and you just see Sun's reaction, so that could be debated if he was able to jump off the boat or not. Unlike Michael's death where it established he was on the boat when it exploded. Most characters deaths done with a gun usually stick (Shannon, Ana Lucia, Libby, Alex), however Locke did survive but was shot in the gut and looked conscious when he was in the pit.

Yeah, I saw that. Pretty interesting, actually. I believe Katherine Heigl was in it.

Person travels back in time to kill Baby Hitler. Goes to the hitler household, kidnaps the baby, and i think drowns it in the river. The nanny/maid freaks out and kidnaps the baby of a poor family, and pretends that it is baby hitler. Then that baby is raised as the Adolph Hitler we all know.
