Two new cast members clock in for "24"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Jennifer Westfeldt and John Boyd have joined the cast of the Fox series "24."
On the upcoming eighth season of the real-time drama, to be set in New York, "Kissing Jessica Stein" writer/producer/star Westfeldt will play the recurring role of Meredith Reed, an ambitious journalist with ties to Arman Hashemi (Anil Kapoor), a Middle East leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission.
Boyd ("The Notorious Bettie Page") will be a regular on the series, playing CTU systems analyst Jonah Schwartz.
Westfeldt and Boyd join the previously cast Kapoor ("Slumdog Millionaire") and Chris Diamantopoulos as the "24" producers fill nine major new roles for Season 8.
Westfeldt recently had a recurring role on "Grey's Anatomy" and has launched a production company with "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm, her longtime companion.

I hope Freddie hit the weight room. I have a hard time seeing him play a badass, especially opposite Kiefer.

who knows Freddy Prinze may work out.
i wasn't to keen on Ricky Shroeder at first, but it worked
maybe they'll give him a mohawk or something to make him look tough
one thing i know is that he'll most likely end up dead or losing a limb.

^Its not like he is young still doing teen movies, and is probably in his 30s now. Freddie Prinze Jr. might surprise us in 24.

I was skeptical about Rick Schroder coming aboard in season 6 and he was decent even though his role was pretty thankless.
I'm sure he'll do fine and will surprise us.

Problem is that he still looks like he's 18. At least Rick Schroeder was a man and had gone toe-to-toe with Andy Sipowicz, on NYPD: Blue, for a couple years.
I can't be too negative though, I was giving people shit for writing off Garafolo when she was first announced. I'll hold my thoughts until I see him in the role.

If he's indeed signed, he probably had a very good screen test. The producers wouldn't have just singed him based on his chick flick achievements! Give him a chance... His performance may be good enough to remove the typecast.

If Freddie does well with this role and depending on how it's written, this could potentially make him a star and get him out of being typecasted in silly romantic comedies.

i just hope this season doesn't have 15 places where the season should have ended but then almeida says hes working for the good guys and then working for the bad guys and then the good guys and the himself.
