Re: LOST -- "What Kate Does" -- 02.09.2010
There's a shot from this episode right after Kate gets her cuffs off where you see a windshield with what looks like the date, 5-8-07. Is it possible these flash-sideways scenes are a mixture of 2004 and 2007 timelines? Still, why would the day of the non-crash be a month later even in 2004? Maybe every Lostie is following their own specific timeline. There's no way the passport says 10/22/04 even if it's partially in Arabic.

IMO it's a bit silly to think a show that's known for being frustratingly cryptic, answering questions with questions, is going to reveal it all two episodes in.
Ask yourself this -- come episode 18 if the writers don't answer a pivotal question that YOU had, do you not think that this episode would have been filler?
Anyways, I'm done beating this dead horse. I was disappointed with this episode - nuff said. YMMV.

Or not. Who knows.
P.S. what site did those crappy Lost wrap-ups late year, that pretty much everyone disagreed with, and are they doing it this year?

I don't understand the "filler" criticism either. I thought there were some great character moments and I imagine it will continue to build.
I keep seeing the characters give a confused stare so I am guessing they somehow have a recollection of the other timeline. Maybe the timelines will merge somehow?

We don't yet know why the water didn't work. I assume its loss of power was connected to Jacob's recent death. Or maybe it was just too late for Sayid at that point.

I thought this was fairly obvious. Sayid was still alive. Jacob wanted to save him and prevent him from being infected, and believed that the healing water would accomplish this. The water didn't work, Sayid died and was infected.

My theory... the infected are not actually controlled by the Man in Black directly but rather by some sort of minion/demon/etc. that does his bidding. Also, instead of assuming they are reanimated dead or whatever, what if it were flipped and you said they were actually alive and the infection/possession made them invincible? So even if they are 'killed', it is only temporary and the infection heals whatever damage. Just something I've been tossing around.

Plus, Jacob mentioned the guitar case, which he gave to Hurley in the first place and which contained whatever mysterious piece of paper let the Temple folks believe the Losties.

Do any of you know of any updated sites keeping track of questions answered and still unanswered throughout the series?

Re: LOST -- "What Kate Does" -- 02.09.2010
Couple things.
Episode 5.08 - LaFleur: Ethan is born of Horace Goodspeed and partner on the island. His appearance in this episode is a clue that these events in the original timeline did occur.
Episode 5.12 - Dead is Dead: Young Ethan is seen with Ben in 1988 stealing Rousseau's baby. Therefore we can assume Ethan was never recruited, rather grew up on the island with the Others.
Episode 1.09 - Solitary: Ethan gives the 815ers the name "Ethan Rom". 1) he probably didn't want to give out his real name, but 2) it was also a clue from the writers, Ethan Rom being an anagram for "Other Man", which alot of folks picked up on back then.
Damon and Carlton have stressed patience from the audience despite them being very aware that these are the final hours of the show and all the fans just want a flurry of answers. These timelines are pertinent to each other, there will not be a "gotcha!" moment later in the season where one is invalidated in favour of the other, so time on the show is not being "wasted" showing one timeline that will turn out to be "false."
This could mean, like Flave and I have speculated, that the "alternate timelines" are really just the singular timeline created by the bomb, only three years apart (2004 & 2007) presented in "parallel". Or, it could be some other really interesting way they come together that we don't expect.
I think I may have posted a link to the interview where D&C discuss the above stuff about the timelines in last weeks thread, but it got lost in the shitstorm of reactions to the premiere.

For this to be the case she would have had to somehow relatively quickly get transported to the island, find acceptance amongst the temple Others, and remember specific passengers from a nondescript flight three years earlier.

I want for someone to not say "I'll tell you everything...........sometime after episode 12." I wish that they wouldn't have the characters ask questions that they're not willing to answer right then and there. And the whole Rousseau thing still has me thinking that she was an "infilitrator" since the first time we saw her.

I've started holding up my hand to block the bottom of the screen while the credits are going. It's a pain, since they seem to last about 10 minutes.

Doesn't hold up. We all know that if Al Gore had been elected in 2000 the women would be wearing burqas and Sayid would be out collecting dhimmi taxes.
