Re: Jerry Seinfeld's The Marriage Ref -- Debuts 2/28/10
still think the show is awful, but i'm glad i tuned in last night. with that panel, i felt obligated to, and they were hilarious. the fact that all 3 of them knew exactly how ridiculous the show was made it even better.
i'll never watch the show again, because IMO, there will never be another panel like last night to make me want to tune in, but i'll keep last night's on the DVR for a while and probably watch it again.

In the very least they shouldn't have limited it to marriages... why not make it about any type of dispute? Disputes between friends, siblings, coworkers, neighbors, etc. At least that would open up the idea a little.

Unfortunately, the show is doing way better than "Leno" did, and better than the other weekday NBC shows during that timeslot.
It's not going anywhere.

+1 Larry was on Fire! Ricky was great. I will definitely re-watch over the weekend. I kept asking myself what in the hell is Madonna doing on this panel, and how many arms got twisted to make that happen?

Anyways, I also cracked up at last night's show. It was such a strange mix of guests. As long as they can get a good set of panelists, I'll keep watching.

Overall, this show is ridiculous. This panel with LD,Madonna & Ricky Gervais was amazing! LOVED THE PANEL!!! Very hilarious and great banter. Now, the couples...especially the psychiatrist/neurologist? For real? LOL I wonder if he'll have any clients after this airs?
These couples would be the type to show up on Springer.

You're in the Picture was a game show hosted by Jackie Gleason that aired for only one episode on January 20, 1961
The following week, Gleason appeared in the same time-slot and apologized for the show he presented the week before.

Of course if got renewed. It's Jerry Freaking Seinfeld, NBC's golden boy. Every review I've read says it absolutely sucks ass, so go figure.

I can't believe this show is pulling in more than 5 million viewers per episode. Anybody have numbers to back this up? How many viewers does it get per episode?

The article I read yesterday on TV.com said...
Here is the whole article... http://www.tv.com/the-marriage-ref-g...ory/22336.html
The show is doing okay in the ratings (awesome for NBC), with an average of 7.2 million viewers and a 3.0 rating among adults.

I don't hate this show, but whether or not I would tune in is solely dependant upon who is on the panel. Ricky Gervais and Larry David were great last year, and totally cancelled out Madonna's suckiness, while Adam Carolla was pretty funny, too. That being said, if they populate the panel with witty personalities, and actually alow them to be funny, I'll tune in.
