awesome photo - thanks for sharing that!
I guess the giant coil of wire is supposed to be an electromagnet which will .... prevent (or cause more of?) Desmond's time jumps that we've seen him have in the past?

Timeline
******
ok, so in the s5 finale:
Jacob/MIB appeared to be older (and needed barbers)
MIB expressed his desire to want to kill Jacob
Black Rock out yonder
and the wide shot of the big statue intact
>>>fast forward to the Ricardo episode:
Jacob/MIB looked alot younger (and clean shaven)
MIB put out his first hit on Jacob (failed attempt)
Black Rock in middle of jungle
big statue becomes big foot
so i conclude that s5 scene obviously took place pre-1867. (or a very short time before Ricardo... so Jacob/MIB must have went and got haircuts and facemasks to look good for the ships arrival')
why is it that the makeup people youngified Jacob/MIB to look younger when that s5 scene apparently happened prior to Ricardo arriving???
was it an error or am i way off?

I think you put everything here that I have wondered as well about that whole situation. Maybe they will explain it later. It does once again seem like something that is obviously different is thrown in our faces, without any real explanation.

Surprised no one mentioned this.....the three letters on the map are S, O and A. So, I would not be surprised in the slightest if the other pocket of energy is at the Arrow Station, even though we haven't seen any indication there should be energy there........

Edit: Nevermind. Just realized you were probably thinking Swan instead of Staff. In looking at the blast door map from S2, it seems you may be onto something since the three points are connected by a similar bearing.

Probably mentioned, I only went back a few pages, but any reason why Flocke couldn't have just toppled those pylons? He was close enough to be able to do it.

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
Sorry if these are stupid questions or have been covered in these threads, I am new to this show. I watched Season 1 on DVD in 2005. I watched the rest in January to get ready for the last season. The questions are: So Ben was never really with Jacob? I am confused here. Ben is against Widmore, Jacob is against MIB, Widmore is against MIB. So if Widmore and Jacob are working toward the same goal, how was Ben working for Jacob yet against Widmore? Ben was with MIB the whole time(being able to summon the smoke for protection/help), so why was Richard who clearly worked for Jacob, working with Ben? Also, in Season three I thought The Others were controlling who came and went. Ben needed Jack to perform his back surgery and was letting him leave until Locke blew up the sub. If Jacob lived in the foot all those years and Ben and Richard knew where he lived, what was the deal with having to go to the cabin to talk to Jacob, why not just go to the foot? Ben was the best, the Ben vs. Widmore story was enough. Now it is Jacob and Widmore against MIB, or are they are all three against each other? I miss Ben, are they done with him?

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
so ben was never really with jacob? Ben never met jacob until he stabbed em in the heart (neither has anyone else besides richard)
>>ben is against widmore, widmore was a leader of the others, he was exiled and ben took over
jacob is against mib, from what we know, jacob is the opposing force...
>>most would say jacob reps the good, while mib is pure evil being contained on the island so he doesn't destroy the world
>>widmore is against mib. Widmore knows of mib as a myth, ghost story, sounds in the night (as he put it on the last episode)
so if widmore and jacob are working toward the same goal, how was ben working for jacob yet against widmore? Ben had beef with widmore because of the previous power conflict just addressed
ben was with mib the whole time(being able to summon the smoke for protection/help),
>>ben was merely uncloging the drain, lol
so why was richard who clearly worked for jacob, working with ben? He doesn't work for ben...
>>richard only acts as an advisor to the leader of the others and relays info from jacob
also, in season three i thought the others were controlling who came and went. Ben needed jack to perform his back surgery and was letting him leave until locke blew up the sub. If jacob lived in the foot all those years and ben and richard knew where he lived,
>>ben didn't know that jacob lived in the foot, he never met him
what was the deal with having to go to the cabin to talk to jacob, why not just go to the foot?
>>ben lies, the cabin stuff was a charade
ben was the best, the ben vs. Widmore story was enough. Now it is jacob and widmore against mib, or are they are all three against each other? I miss ben, are they done with him?
>>jacob is allegedly dead, and at this point everyone on the island is against accept for the sissies that joined him to avoid getting smoked
>>ben is against widmore, widmore was a leader of the others, he was exiled and ben took over
jacob is against mib, from what we know, jacob is the opposing force...
>>most would say jacob reps the good, while mib is pure evil being contained on the island so he doesn't destroy the world

It's often been said that a chracter cannot die because the "island" didn't want them to yet. An example would be Michael. However, does this also translate to Jacob being that force to prevent death (e.g. touching people?). I know that has been questions, but no answer as of yet. If he is the mechanism, doesn't that raise some serious flags on why Patchy wouldn't die? Only until he did something necessary - kill Charlie - was he allowed to finally die. Or was it perhaps something related to the fate of Desmond?

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
I think in the end, we will see that certain things (like bringing Losties to the island, giving Richard immortality) will be attributed to Jacob trying to achieve his plan. But ultimately, a lot of stuff will only be explained as what the island wants to happen, with the island just being a metaphor for fate/destiny/providence/etc.
Jacob may be using the island's special nature to achieve whatever goals he may have.

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
I'd argue against the whole Kwon vs. Paik argument based simply on the fact that when Jacob touched them they were already married meaning they are both Kwons at that point.
