I like how all the judges act like Aarti's point of view is "genius" when all she is doing is just cooking the food she grew up with. Secondly, I hope she changes the name of her show because I cringe every time she says, "Aarti Paarti."
With that said I do love Indian food, so her winning is not a bad thing. I felt bad for the two guys because there was no way in hell they even had a chance since Aarti was a lock from very early on in the show.

I thought it was interesting that they showed Tom getting on Aarti for bagging on herself.
Hopefully Tom and Herb made some good contacts and will find life elsewhere.

Also the two VPs (Bob & Suzy) looked terrified when the President of the network walked in. She must either be a real bear to work for or they realize just how bad of a job they've been doing with this show.

I was very pleased that Aarti won. She is very likable, not annoying and I love Indian food. I might actually watch her show. Maybe she'd even do some vegetarian recipes which are hard to find on Food Network shows.

I've always felt that the point of this show is the show itself. It's the channel's answer to reality TV, hence all of the dramified drama. It brings in quite a bit of viewers which is obviously good for the network's ratings. Sure, the person they eventually choose will end up with a show, but with all of the sponsors and product tie-ins the initial expense for a 6-episode run is probably next to nothing. If the network ends up with another stud, ala Guy Fieri, then that just makes the bottom line look even better when all is said and done. Thus, I would think that Food Network's president is quite happy with what Bob and Suze have done.

So in another shocker, the whole point of the focus group was what exactly? Something that they'll pawn off as another factor that might give the choice a little more perceived weight, but in actuality completely ignored as the decision was probably made right around when they cast the show?

And that was way too many reality-TV callouts in a single post.

I'm watching the rerun of the final episode and they just advertised Aarti's new show--hope no one's watching for the first time. ![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
It's at 9 or 12 depending on HD or SD. They did keep the name, but at least they didn't spell it "Paarti."

of those three pilots, aarti's looked atrocious. it just goes to show you this is less about how good you are, but rather what niche they need to fill. i wanted tom to win, but he was screwed being compared to Guy Fieri.

Just caught 'Aarti Party' and its not too bad.
She is LIGHT YEARS away from the insecure mess that was on FNStar. She came across very calm relaxed and engaging. I even enjoyed her banter about India and dumbed down explanations about Indian food and spices.
The food itself was kinda lame but I figure they don't want to intimidate Middle America with things they are not familiar with. So we get sloppy joes made with chicken tikka masala chicken. And ice pops flavored with earl grey tea and cardamom. Hell, I'd rather just have a simple easy to follow recipe for chicken tikka masala and I know this chick could give me one. Too bad they will probably continue to dumb her down.
I'll keep watching if only because its the only show that could offer Indian recipes that might be anywhere near authentic. She definitely has a good grasp of Indian food and Im sure I could learn stuff watching her. Just please, no Indian meatloaf or Indian mashed potatoes!
Also, nice to see the wardrobe and makeup department at Food Network doing their thing. They made her complexion look perfect and dressed her in something that made her look 50 pounds lighter. She actually has a nice rack too!
Do your thing Aarti!

It's not a shock that the actual show she has is better then how she showed on NFS. They actually get to do multiple takes and plan out an entire episode for days with a whole production team.

Not to mention a good portion of her insecurity seemed to be whether or not she could get the job, not really whether or not she could do the job.

I missed it. I made sure to record what was then called "The NFNS Winner Show" on my DVR right after last week's finale ended, but I'm pretty sure that between then and now they changed the name of the show and it canceled the recording. Maybe I'll catch it next time.

I saw the show. It was somewhat entertaining and I learned some things. Will I make the recipes? No chance. Will I watch again? Eh, maybe.
They might put it on demand, if you have that.
