Synopsis for Restaurant Wars:

Season 3 kicks off with 12 accomplished culinarians battling it out in a time-honored and all-encompassing "Top Chef" challenge---Restaurant Wars. Curtis Stone is the new series host and Ruth Reichl serves as a new judge.

New Host this season is Curtis Stone

Contestants:

Mentions the changes for this season:

http://www.bravotv.com/top-chef-masters/season-3/about

No more star scale, which I didn't like.

I got bored with season 2 and didn't finish it. Hopefully the changes will make it more compelling. Glad they replaced Kelly Choi also.

not really sure if all of these chefs are better than some of the non-Masters we've had on top chef.

I think Richard should have gotten a spot on here as part of winning All-Stars.

WTF, the winner of the quickfire did not even put the 2 ingredients together in her dish. Kind of not even the spirit of the challenge. LAME

Except they did say that the two salads worked well together.

Was fine with the guy that left, he bugged me.

I think this will be better when they get rid of about half of the people, there was too much going on to really get a flavor for what was being made.

Yeah, that annoyed me. I don't care if the dishes 'work together'... it's still a copout.

I can't believe they brought back Hugh, he is horrible. The sooner the send him and Naomi home, the better.

Really? My wife can't stand her either. I guess she just comes off as irritating and more interested in the "reality" show stuff than the cooking.

I haven't seen enough of the chefs to decide much based on personality. Thought you may have been talking about food-wise, but she seems to stack up in that department. And she's one of the only semi-attractive woman on the show, so I don't want her gone just yet!

Re: Top Chef Masters -- The 3rd Season Discussion Thread -- Premieres 4/06/11

Love this from her restaurant's site:

Our general rule is that we do not offer substitutions. Because we have a small kitchen and a set menu, we don't have the staff and resources to tailor each course to individual dining restrictions. Pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans would find it a challenge to enjoy our six-course dinners. We are able to make an exception for allergies only if the ingredient in question is something that we can easily leave out of a dish such as nuts or bread. If you have further questions, please call the reservation line, and we will be more than happy to help!
Hah!

Good, if L&O likes her my initial instincts are correct.

Food looks good too:

But lets face it, any meal that ends with chocolate covered bacon is a winner.

I'm trying to get up to Portland in a couple of weeks, but the stupid flights are not co-operating!
If we get there, we are going to Beast for sure.

I am a Canuck, who lives in Oregon(Portland) which I can say feels a lot like Canada - which makes it feel like home.

Nope - Not Naomi - but would love to check out Beast some day. But Portland has far too many good restaurants.
