Nice. We'll try to 'bombard' Ken next week. He prefers real names, or at least actual names signed to posts, and if we all have the same general message maybe he'll respond!

Definitely in for this! I have find memories growing up of Cheers coming on in syndication, and I'd watch it with my dad (along with Married...with Children).

Sounds like a great way to spend a few hours a week!

What night of the week did Cheers air? Would be cool to watch the episodes at the same time it originally aired.

For most of its years on air it was Thursday nights at 9, with a brief sojourn at 9.30. However here in the UK it was Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4. Any time other than 9pm on Friday just doesn't feel right to me!!

That sounds like a fun idea to see it around then.

Let's do the Ken Levine thing on whatever he posts Wednesday. If we all send him a message relating the gist of this concept, hopefully he'll respond.

That's what I thought, but aren't Thursdays pretty busy on everyone's tv schedule already?

I'm in as well. It is one of my favorite shows of all time.

I can't commit to a particular day and time, my family responsibilities don't allow for that. But if we agree a number of episodes to watch each week (four? - plucked out of the air but I think do-able) that would work for me.

I stand corrected. My library only has seasons 4,5,7,8.

I will try to do an inter-library loan though for the earlier seasons though.

Yeah I think that works. It's 22 episodes, so we can do 4 weeks with 4 episodes each, and then have the last week devoted to the 2 parter.

Tomorrow I'll write something on Ken's blog, let's see if we can get something going there!

I think your math is a little fuzzy, bluetoast.

Thinking about this show with this viewing club starting up, and I realize I'm still a few seasons shy of owning the entire series. Seems like Cheers is one of those shows that you can rarely find on sale.

Maybe we could do 5-6 episodes per week. That way we could do a season per month, and actually finish it by the end of the year. You'd finish the week's viewing in under 3 hours, which doesn't seem unreasonable.

I'd be in favor of finishing the first season during the month of the TV challenge. Not committing to a whole year, though.

I think I own the first eight seasons or so. I got off the DVD wagon during their long hiatus.

Now this I like. Spread out over a week that's not much at all.

I'm game for this as well. Don't know if I can swing the 5-6 episodes a week, but I'll have fun trying...

I'm in, but I would also want to do a season per month.

I was not aware of that. If so I wonder why?

That would actually be pretty cool.

5 to 6 a week sounds reasonable. I don't think I've seen much of the Diane years, so this will be a treat!

Re: Any interest in a Cheers viewing club in January?

Let's comment about the viewing club here. I will do so soon. Something like "We're doing a Cheers season 1 viewing club (his favorite season) in January and would love if you could join us or chime in." Maybe throw in that DVDTalk is a big site. He likes the use of names as well, not anonymous, etc.
