It went against a repeat of TBBT last week and still tanked.

I thought this was among the worst of the series, but I didn't completely hate it. I actually enjoyed the Jeff story more than the Shirley one and apparently more than most of you guys. My favorite line of the ep was Brita saying "You two are probably feeling a strong impulse to sleep with each other and, hey, that's normal."

+1 to rocket's take on the Shawshank parody. The thing that ruined it for me was the voice over. Besides being poorly done IMO, you can't just introduce a voice over 1/3 of the way into the show and only in half the scenes. Yes, this is something the old Community would have done, but they would have either committed to it, or made more subtle and less on the nose.

For me I don't think of it as godawful. I just think that the first three seasons were fantastic, yes there were some misses here and there, but for the most part it was fantastic and my most re-watched DVD's that I own. What we are getting now, compared to where it was, is mediocre at best. I just don't want to keep watching in the hopes that they can regain their form. I think with the overabundance of great television that is out there it seems fool hardy to waste your time on something that is a shell of what it once was.

I stopped watching THE OFFICE really early in season 8 for the same reason, and from what i read from time to time in the weekly threads I am really not missing much. Some people will stick with something way longer than they probably should out of some idea along the lines of "well I've come this far lets see what happens". I just choose to say Fuck That! I've got better things to do than watch mediocre TV.

Yeah, time is precious. Wasting it watching something that doesn't work for you (whatever that reason is) seems odd to me. I haven't watched this ep yet, but I think I'm going to leave Community behind. If I hear great things about the show, I might peak back in, but I'm cool with cherishing those first 3 seasons and leaving it at that.

This episode was just as good as the others. I don't see what you guys see.

They keep doing those "Scrubs endings" with narration. I don't remember them doing that so often in the past.

The only thing I can say is thought the episode didn't completely suck (in fact I'd call it OK) it certainly wasn't up to par. I love the show and it wasn't enough to chase me off but had this been the episode I first watched I would never have given it a 2nd chance.

Wow. I was not expecting that reaction to this ep. I thought it was the best one yet. Jeff's brother had me laughing a ton. I really enjoyed it.

I'm happy someone enjoyed it.

I did not. The Jeff storyline was ok until he got to the scissor cutting part. I don't need these people to be deep characters. They are great as what they are.

The Shawshank stuff was just all over the place. The show is great when it does parodies but it only works when they go all the way with it. This one was too metta for it's own good.

The brother bothered me. I dislike the actor (and hate his Simcity comercials).

He's pretty funny in the movie Pitch Perfect which I really like, so I enjoyed him as well.

Never seen a SimCity commercial.

The episode was ok. Certainly not bad tv by any means, but I never felt this show was designed to last than 4 seasons or so anyway given its nature. Given the ratings struggles it has, it likely never will, but after the start to this season, I'm ok with it ending. I just hope it has some moments left in it. As of now, it's just is lacking and actually feels to some degree... a little tired.

Adam either entertains or irritates the fuck out of you, not unlike his character on Workaholics.

I don't mind him (as much) on Workaholics (I've seen several episodes) but on Community he just didn't work for me.

I think my biggest beef with this episode is that it felt like a traditional multi-cam sitcom. With the scenes in the car, Jeff's tackling daddy issues complete with a brother he hates... it was a little too Everybody Love Raymond for my tastes.
