I won't miss the show as it's overstayed its welcome by several years. But I'll still watch the finale tonight.

Re: The Office -- Retrospective and "Finale" -- Series Finale -- 5/16/13

Looking forward to the retrospective and finale.

I got into the show late. My sister loved the show and let me borrow her DVDs for seasons 1-4 and I managed to get caught up in time to watch season 5 weekly. Had some really long 3-4 hour marathons getting caught up.

The show has stumbled a little since Steve Carell, but I always managed to get a few laughs even on bad episodes.

I agree with pretty much everyone that it was a tremendous waste of time making Andy manager of Dunder Mifflin. Dwight should have gotten the job after last season. Ed Helms honestly should have been written out after last season. Andy was a fucking garbage character this season.

I had to look it up myself to remember: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabe_Lewis (<--Yes, people have WAY too much time on their hands...)

He was fired when Sabre sold the company, but rehired by Andy as a consultant to make Erin jealous. He just hasn't appeared much after that.

He was the Scranton Strangler, but luckily was killed by Jim in a drunk driving "accident."

I'm looking forward to it. I jumped off the show during the Michael Scott Paper Company stupidity but came back in Season 6 I think? They really missed the boat this season by not making Dwigt regional manager sooner. Andy was funny the first few episodes after the merger but lost the funny soon after.

What happened to Pete's ex-girlfriend that Andy hired in the same episode? Did she ever appear after that?

What about the one hot girl that wanted to seduce Jim? What happened to her? I think Jim may have "disappeared" her.

Re: The Office -- Retrospective and "Finale" -- Series Finale -- 5/16/13

I loved this show so much in it's early years, season two and most of season three are some of the best network comedy I think in a long time. To me around the end of season three or the early parts of season four it just seemed like it lost something for me. I always hoped it would spring back but it never seemed to happen. I liked most of the main cast and thought they had good chemistry but eventually the show just went too over the top for my taste. Still I might check in to see how it ends even if I haven't really watched regularly since season five.

I voted Michael, but I think Karen Filippelli deserved to be in the poll more than some of the other characters. I was on team Karen back in season 3.

I originally had Karen (and Roy) in the poll, but removed them in favor of some of the new regulars from the last couple of seasons. Large cast, nine seasons, limited number of poll options--not everybody's gonna make the cut.

Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration shouldn't be in there at all, but I just wanted to do the Vance Refrigeration thing one last time.

Despite the steep decline in quality, Thursdays next fall will feel a little odd without this show.

Over five and a half years later, this is still the first shirt I wear in my gym clothes rotation. (It was amazing how quickly these showed up on ebay after "Fun Run" aired.)

That pretty much summarizes my overall feeling about the show, although I have stuck with it all the way to the end. To me, there were three distinct eras of the show, each three seasons long: Very good to great (season one to three), erratic but still mostly very watchable (season four through six), and blah to nearly terrible (season seven through nine).

These last three seasons I pretty much stuck with it out of sheer habit, and because I was watching other (mostly far better) shows on NBC that aired around it, anyway. But I have to admit it will be strange not having it on the air anymore.

Creed is my favorite. Probably because he never got overused. Always left me wanting more.

Cheers this ain't, with people gathered in the streets to watch, but this should be a good finale.

Re: The Office -- Retrospective and "Finale" -- Series Finale -- 5/16/13

I still can't believe that the final episode will air in just a few minutes from now. I've been a die hard fan since day one, and was a die hard fan of the UK show before even this series. No matter the drop in quality, and the overall change after Michael left, and the big mistake they made with giving Andy the manager job instead of letting it be an entire season of Dwight as manager and Jim as his second...I'll still miss this show so much. My ringtone has been the theme song since I got my iPhone, and I'm such a huge fan that everyone that knows me connects me with the show.

Blah, oh well. This was one of those special shows in my opinion, way up on the upper level of quality. There are few like this, overall, and even fewer that I end up loving so much, even in the bad times.

Here we go...

Re: The Office -- Retrospective and "Finale" -- Series Finale -- 5/16/13

Man that retrospective really made me nostalgic for the early years. That second season really had an impact on me. Like they said...what made it good was the show had heart. Over the last few years there hasn't been any heart, just over the top antics. My how the mighty have fallen. Well on to the finale...

FINALLY there is a cereal commercial aimed at adults (Lucky Charms). I've been saying they should be doing that for years.

Too bad the producers didn't think of that for the show.
