I don't really understand why AMC breaks this show up into two halves. The break isn't very long and it seems like it would kill some of the momentum the show has built up. The only thing I can maybe see is that it gives them an opportunity for some big cliffhanger the end of the first part so they can try and get even bigger ratings for the second half's premiere.

I hope that Rick keeps his shit together now. Crazy Rick was an interesting arc. But the drama had some eye-rolling moments.

What is puzzling to me is that unlike USA's shows where the split seasons are clearly to provide alternative programming to network hiatus, the split season here seems to go right up against the spring and fall sweeps/premiere periods.

My guess is that perhaps at first it had something to do with fitting in another show into their Sunday night rotation, but I wasn't watching any of the shows at that time (and still don't watch this one so this is a rare thread appearance for me).

i thought we already discussed this split season. AMC has gone on record to state that they do it to take advantage of tax situations by pushing the costs into a new year. of course there were several people who came out and said that was bullshit and called AMC on their shenanigans, but that was the official reason from the network.

It is probably also a good idea to not have to air new episodes during the holiday season where many people won't be home to watch the episodes.

I guess I don't really care that much it just seems kind of odd to air eight take a break for a couple months and then come back. Whatever works though.

Until the ratings stop increasing each time they do it, I don't see them putting a stop to it.

Yeah I'm thinking that too. And it builds up excitement as people are like aweeeee it's already done? Can't wait for the next two months. Can't disagree with their strategy as I believe it is the most watched show for the key demographics.

Well, at least it's only a few months instead of a year (Breaking Bad, final season of Mad Men)

I don't know. I'm a big fan of the comic series but this stopped being must watch TV for me last year. The EPs have made some poor choices over the last two seasons regarding character development and whatnot. I think I'm gonna check out the premiere but I'll be week to week for awhile.

I'm sure this will probably set new records tonight with it's ratings.

Hopefully Scott Gimple is the right man to steer this show in the right direction.

having Michael Cudlitz in this eases my pain from the cancellation of Southland.

Very few people even noticed it was on, or went off. Cudlitz pretty much was the reason to watch the show during the last season. Glad to see he's joined this.

Ready a synopsis of Abraham's story on Wiki. Sounds pretty hardcore.

After that happy fairytale ending on Breaking Bad, I'm ready for some bleak TV again.

I think it's safe to say that the TV series now has very little to do with the comic series other than some of the same characters and some similar events. The outcome of those events seem to differ greatly though. I haven't read the comics, but I hear there are quite a few people who are dead who shouldn't be and vice versa.
