Fuck, now I want to do a scene by scene comparison of this episode and The Prestige.

not a bad episode. If they can just cut out the banter between the team, and give it a more serious edge they may have something to work with.
- only goofy part was that they were able to reverse engineer technology that was a decade ahead of its time in less than a day - and make them light weight, wireless, reading glasses
That should be standard issue equipment going forward, who would not want x-ray specs.

The stuff in the van was great. "Russian TV is boring"

I liked the banter with Skye telling him to watch out for things like his man hands or windows. I thought it was actually well done for a change in this show without being cheesy.

This was the first episode of this series that I genuinely enjoyed. The antagonist was interesting, the fight scene was well choreographed, Ming-Na was given something to do and they even had to string together more than 3 sentences at once, the scientist's banter was kept to a minimum, and the main agent wasn't too much of a jerk. If they keep this up I might actually keep watching.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Neat premise, interesting solutions to the problem, a little gross-out stuff too. Big

Glasses that let you see people naked? I don't think there's anyone anywhere in the world wouldn't abuse that great power and great responsibility ! Skye's liking what she saw moment was kind of funny, a payoff pretty much everyone could relate to.

Getting better and better. Still a little too much comedy. And despite it being an interesting plot this time, it really doesn't hold up to scrutiny AT ALL. So many contrivances that it's laughable. Still, I hope they keep improving.

Glad I wasn't the only one to notice the uptick in quality. This was the first episode that had a Whedonesque quality to it. Definitely something they can build on - I'm feeling hopeful.

The Whedon (production) comedy thing has turned me off from many of his shows. If this wasn't an 8pm show (EST) then maybe they could take some liberties with the content, but the combination of the time slot and production makes for some juvenile moments. The dialog seems to talk down to the audience. Reminds me a bit of Terra Nova. Someone else mentioned that they barely string three sentences together.
Those criticisms aside, pretty enjoyable episode. I am in for the long haul, although I suspect this will be occasional hit & mostly miss .. like Terra Nova.

Big uptick in quality this week almost all around. It's the first time the show didn't look like a cheap syfy movie of the week. It's amazing how that one little change can affect the rest of the episode. Actually looked closer to Fringe than Terra Nova which is a step in the right direction.
Fitzsimmons is still redundant, Ward still a lifeless douche. Tired of May's stern wooden character. It's far more distracting than any of the silly stuff Michonne (TWD) got flack for.
Personally I think this show would work better as a trio + 1. Trio in the field (Coulson, Skye) + 1 in the lab. Dump Ward and find someone else as the third and at least drop one computer nerd if not both and start from scratch there too.

Maybe I'm out of touch with network TV standards, but I was surprised to hear the word "penis" said during an 8pm show.
I thought this episode was miles better than the last two. I enjoyed the pilot, and haven't despised the show like everyone else here, but this was certainly a step in the right direction. The comedy is still a bit too much NCIS-like, but I think it will find its balance.
The cast still needs to be trimmed. I personally don't care for either of their techies and Agent Banana Republic comes off as an unlikeable douche.

Whedon shows (I'm aware Joss is not pulling the strings as much as he did on say Buffy or Firefly, so it's not exactly the same thing) usually take a while to get going. And yes, this does include the beloved Firefly even if one sees it from the true pilot episode first.
