See, I buy every one of those arguments, except for the need for the zombies to have some kind of logical explanation. Why do zombies eat flesh and not stop when you shove a poll through their chest? Because it's scary.

Well they were touching on that when Darabont was still running the show; you had the wife from the first episode who would always come home or in the second season when they were looking for Sophia, they found the walkers sitting in a church after the bell had rung.

In addition the zombies in WD are paradoxical in the show: ravenously hungry for human flesh but essentially immortal and not requiring any type of sustenance to maintain fairly vigorous function. Would it be so hard to just have a disease that killed their "self" and made them essentially decompose if they did not get a LOT of food, so they become senseless killing machines preying on all living things including humans?
WDs problems are clearly not a big deal for a lot of viewers but there are so many that they ruin the experience for me. Endless supply of new looking cars and gas. Mown lawns. Nice houses completely untouched and unlooted except for the random boogie man zombie behind the door. Endless roads completely free of cars. Everyone is completely psycho and militant and willing to have shoot outs at the drop of a hat. No one really works together. Big ones: food and clean water have never been an issue in the show. For that matter neither was formula or diapers or arsenals of automatic weapons and ammo.
They've explained all these things on the show. You're either not watching or just unwilling to accept what they have shown us (minus the mown lawns, there's no reason for that ).

What vigorous function are you talking about? They fucking stumble around until someone is within biting range and then attack.

I liked that Carl fell when he body slammed the door rather than the door opening. How many times have we seen someone easily open a door with a kick or body slam in a movie? Front doors are thick and heavy, but in a lot of movies and shows they look thin and give way too easily. I also liked it when Carl was like "Seriously?" after Rick reprimanded him for cursing... as if manners are what's important during the zombie apocalypse! Not to mention this kid's had to learn to grow up fast, having seen and committed violent acts in the past. I also liked that in the end, Carl realized he couldn't kill his dad even when he thought Rick was infected; maybe now he'll appreciate him more and treat him with more respect. I liked that we got to see Michonne's back story.
What I didn't like was seeing Rick and Carl facing death over and over again because IMHO these are the two characters that will never die... at least not until the show ends or the actors themselves choose to leave the show. (And I haven't heard that either one of them is thinking about leaving anytime soon.) The show opened with Rick waking up to this world and him trying to find his family, so to me the show is told from his perspective (similar to Jack on Lost), and if Andrew Lincoln leaves before the show ends it will lose its heart and soul. Carl represents the future, so I think they could use him in a next-generation series (like the grown-up John Connor in The Terminator films). So to me, seeing these two characters in near-death experiences so often is kind of a waste of time. Anyone else is fair game though.

To be honest, while I agree with you they are 2 of the worst characters in the show. They should die along with Michonne.

I immediately disliked zombie Herschel head. Someone should have stopped that before it ended up in the episode. Totally illogical for the show.
Liked the episode. This felt like it borrowed it's feel from "The Road".

Really? I expected to see someone put him out of his misery out of respect. I get the feeling they all consider being a walker a fate worse than death.

The head thing was pretty much expected at least by me. After seeing the head collection I assume we would the see the zombie head after a main character lost his head. Seems totally inline with the show to me.

just started watching the back 8 episodes
If they really wanted to make this train wreck of an episode realistic, when Carl saw Rick was sleeping, they should have shown him masterbating
That's what teenage boys do when they get some alone time
