Why? It's not like the TV show has to follow the books. Dexter went in a completely different direction from the books after the first season. True Blood is a loose translation at best. And The Walking Dead has long split from the comics.

Different mediums, different ways to tell the story.

If people don't realize by now, most of these unknown book to television adaptations don't care one whit about the source material. The television execs consider the book to be nothing more than a rough starting guide for a potential series. Most networks don't even pay much lip service to the books anymore, once a show gets off the ground.

It is a different matter for an actual and well-known bestseller, say from Stephen King.

I see that a lot and they could do a direct translation of a book if they wanted to or as close to it as possible. I think some just don't want to and using the Walking Dead as an example I'm glad it's different because it's an ongoing and if the story was the same I would know everything that happens. Direct translation for a single book is a good idea while an ongoing may need to take some liberties.

I watched this last night and it was just plain horrible.they send a bunch of good looking criminal kids to Earth and all they care about is hooking up and acting like delinquents. First thing said when off the ship is, We're back Bitches!?

Did really well in the ratings last week even though opinions are really mixed. Helps that it has Arrow as a lead-in.

Well it took a youngin on the ship to figure out that the 100 were removing the bracelets. Seriously, wouldn't that be one of the first things you'd think of? Space people.

After trying to get through a complete episode, can only assume that "100" refers to the number of clichés they plan to pack into the season.

I was in for Paige Turco, Isaiah Washington, and Henry Ian Cusick, but not even they can make me put up with what can accurately be described as just another CW show.

Re: The 100 -- "Earth Kills" -- 4/02/14

So how many out of the 100 have been killed off now? 6?
Landing with out seatbelts = 2
death fog = 2
death fog + stab = 1
random "WTF?!" stab = 1

I like the show a whole lot so far.. I kind of want them to show the world/stuff in it a little more but can't show all your cards in the first few eps..

Seeing as they were looking for little to no reason at all to "space" major portions of the populations just to make room for the failing life support, we can assume the level of crimes vary. It seems that many were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

holy shit. Did not expect that ending at all. This show doesn't seem shy about killing off their lead characters so early in its run.

at the lens flares during the flashbacks. Almost thought JJ Abrams directed this.

According to the pilot any little thing, even crap like graffiti, spitting, or non-regulation haircut constitutes the death penalty...

Wells, Clarke's best friend (the young black guy in the cast photo above). The son of Isaiah Washington's character.

A young girl stabbed him in the throat in the last scene. She was getting some kind of revenge for what his father did to her parents on the ark.

Which was one of the few likable characters on this show, thanks for the info.

Re: The 100 -- "Earth Kills" -- 4/02/14

Out of curiosity, what do you all like about this show? From what I can tell so far, 94 of those kids are only interested in being free with no adult supervision and don't worry about eating, sleeping or developing any kind of order. The only way I can see this improving is if the group that went to get the food come back and everyone else is dead, then I would enjoy it a lot more.

Can't happen. The group that went to get food ran back when attacked by "grounders" and the one kid was speared. Now they are hunting for critters to eat (not very successfully as they have no skills).
