Looking forward to this, hopefully they can keep the momentum they had at the end of last season.

Been looking forward to this! I wonder how much time will have passed in-show since the S1 finale.

I just question why Ward still needs to be a regular. Any attempt to rehabilitate him would be stupid. It's not like he was an interesting character either. Tripp was far more effective in that role later in the year.

I'm going to DVR the first few episodes of this season and get caught up on S1 through Netflix Latin America.

Maybe they will pull some crap such as saying the Ward in season 1 wasn't the real Ward. He was an LMD or something. I wouldn't be surprised if it is something that stupid.

I'm sure there will be a redemption arc for the first half of the season. They can't possibly redeem Ward within the first couple of episodes.

Redemption? He murdered Saffron Burrows and all those other people in cold blood. I'm just not buying it.

He'll redeem himself and die in the process. That's pretty much the only way they can believably do it.

They will probably need Ward because of special knowledge he has of HYDRA.

It would be better if they just moved on from him.

^ Agree, it was a like a mini-Raiders of the Lost Ark .

Absorbing Man was cool to see as well.

I need a refresher: what happened to Fitz to mess him up so bad? Interesting twist with Simmons . Seems like this season will be a bit darker than last year, which I guess is part of them taking advantage of the later time slot.

Fitz and Simmons were trapped in a canister on the ocean floor, and devised an escape plan, but Fitz gave the only oxygen tank to Simmons as they made their way to the surface, and he suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen.

The WWII flashback was awesome, but I don't know, I'm trying to like this because I like the Marvel universe, but the main cast just isn't really doing it for me. The actress that plays Skye seems like she belongs in some teen soap opera, and I don't buy Ming Na Wen as a badass. I liked the premiere of Gotham better than any episode of this series.

Good start to the season. Looks like Ward is going to be playing Hannibal Lector for a little while.

Fits has brain damage from being without air when he and Simmons escaped from the container Ward dropped in the ocean during the last two episodes of season one.

I loved this episode, and totally geeked out with Creel (especially his "wrecking ball").

I guess JJ Feild was unavailable for the opening scene. It would be nice if they could get Neal McDonough signed on to do Agent Carter.

It was a better opening then the first episode from last year.

In addition to the assumed Cobie Smulders role later this year, they should try to pry Emily Van Camp for an episode or two. Also, this wouldn't be a bad time to try to land Scarlett. She might not want to commit to a movie with the new baby, but a week's worth of work in front of the Avengers movie would be a good tie in.

Totally. Obviously an homage to the locked up guy having the intellectual upper hand.

Some of my deepest fears in life are limb damage and tight spaces, so between this and The Strain, it's just been a banner week for me

The Absorbing Man? So we're just totally ignoring the Ang Lee Hulk film now? Solid season premier, setting up SHIELD working in the dark and needing resources and being ragtag. So what is that thing? Apparently Lucy Lawless won't be a regular.

"People need our help, whether they know it or not. I know what it's supposed to mean, but that was awkwardly phrased, and wow, did it sound fascist.

"Football or American football."
It's called "soccer." You know, it's irritating, for some reason, the English think they can speak the language better than we can just because they invented it .

Love this episode. The surprise with Fitz was great. The absorbing man was cool. The oh so predictable bad guy is still around was even cool.

I was highly entertained. And I also hope that only made Ward helpful, you can't just fix what he has done, there is no way to do that.

Yeah, the Ang Lee Hulk movie has never officially been part of the MCU, though from what I remember I don't think anything in The Incredible Hulk explicitly contradicted it, and TIH didn't present a new origin, so it seemed like they were sort of playing loose with its continuity.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Shadows" -- 9/23/14

Tonight's episode was really good - it was very cool to see Crusher Creel as The Absorbing Man! My guess is that this season they don't shy away from the superheroes or super villains the way they did for most of last season.

That was a great way to open up the 2nd season.

And, for the record, Ming Na Wen kicks ass.
