I like Mulaney's stand up but Martin Short kills this show for me - just awful. The cheap situational translation of Mulaney's good material isn't working either, but Short grates big time - 2 eps and I was out.

I love Mulaney. For those of you who are wondering who he is, he's the magic behind Stefon.
I heard this was terrible and couldn't bring myself to watch. Hopefully this releases him to do something far more interesting.

Not looking great...

I absolutely love Mulaney's stand up and his work with Nick Kroll, but this show... oof. The funniest thing to me is Ice T doing the "this was recorded in front of a live studio audience" at the beginning. Please, Fox, just move Bob's Burgers up from the preempted-by-NFL death slot. (When it's back from its momentum killing hiatus after having aired only one episode, that is.)
Fox cuts its Mulaney order by three episodes

Operating on the assumption that nothing builds up hot cult buzz for a struggling show like being screwed with by corporate suits, the corporate suits at Fox have started screwing with Mulaney, cutting their order for the show’s first season by three episodes. The show’s fans—even now slapping shipping labels on the hundreds of boxes of sweaters they plan to deluge Fox executives with—will have to content themselves with only 13 episodes of the show’s planned 16. Of course, that 16 was originally a planned six, before Fox expanded its initial order. And that six was originally a planned zero, when NBC passed on the pilot. So really, the number of episodes in Mulaney’s first season may be fundamentally unknowable, as shifting and inconstant as the desert sands. Although, given the show’s ratings so far, less is probably a better bet than more.
There’s no word yet on whether Fox will follow its savvy promotional campaign by dumping Mulaney on Friday nights, then preempting it for baseball. That’s the sort of marketing power play that’s guaranteed to get fans to unite in angry Internet mobs and gives themselves a plucky nickname (we suggest The Turtlenecks) just in time to drive sales of the first season DVDs.

This will soon become Fox's rotating death slot for comedies. Family Guy's audience is notoriously picky, I think finding the right non-animated comedy will be tough. I don't think Brooklyn 99 fits very well between Simpsons and Family Guy, either.

Based on the horrible ratings so far, Mulaney should be moved to 7:30pm at the very least. I would put Bob's Burgers back in its original timeslot and move Brooklyn 99 to 9:30pm:
7:30 Mulaney (unless pre-empted by The OT)
8:00 Simpsons
8:30 Bob's Burgers
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 Brooklyn 99
7:30 Mulaney (unless pre-empted by The OT)
8:00 Simpsons
8:30 Bob's Burgers
9:00 Family Guy
9:30 Brooklyn 99

Didn't notice that there was a thread here.
I LOVE Mulaney's stand-up comedy. The problem is, it just doesn't translate well to a TV show like this.
So far:
Pilot - terrible. So completely unfunny. Martin Short is terrible.
Ep2 - Much better, honestly. I loved the restaurant scene. Otherwise, still not great. What's up with Martin Short? He's the worst thing about this show right now.
I haven't watched Ep3 yet, but I'm at the point where I'm expecting SO little from the show that maybe it'll be decent enough (like Ep2...). We'll see.

The "magic" of Stefan on SNL is that he reads boring info from a card that has random things written on it from Mulaney that Hader doesn't know about beforehand, so Hader laughs.
Thats it.
Unitl this show and posts over in the SNL topic I never heard of him.
This show is pretty bad. If it was a behind the scenes show on the game show
I might find that interesting, based on the early commercials that is what I thought it would be.
